BR: Step record inserts notes into the wrong clip

Waveform 8.2.7 64-bit Windows 10.

Step recording inserts notes into the last clip that had notes added, edited, moved, or deleted with the mouse.

Insert a note into clip A with the mouse.
Create a new empty clip B.
Select clip B (you can also select its track or stick the input marker into its track, it doesn't make any difference).
Enable step recording.
Try to add a note via MIDI.
The note will appear in clip A.
