Hi folks,

You know what would really take MPowerSynth to the next level?

My suggestion is this:

Make the FX matrix bigger, and include some new modules:

OSC1
OSC2
OSC3
FILT1
FILT2
NOISE
ARP

So basically one could freely route the signal chain of the whole synth in the matrix.

So for example: one could choose to have the NOISE module only going through a comb filter, with OSC1 only going through some distortion then to FILT1, then to a delay, while only OSC2 goes to FILT2 then to the ARP.
Then these would all route into a mixer then into MTurboReverb, then and out to your DAW.
For example! ;)

Perhaps this is all technically impossible, but if not, it would completely bury the competition in terms of flexibility!

Cheers! ........D

Try browsing the forum for MYYY. You'll only find hints and rumors, but that is where the fun is, no?

Ah-ha, i didn't hear about MYYY before!

I only hope that it's NOT some kind of modular with visual patch cables hanging all over the place as i really hate that sh*t, but somehow that's not really Mr Melda's style i don't think.

What we need is just something like the big matrix in MXXX, but that contains synthesis building blocks that can be freely routed, fed back, with FX added anywhere in the chain. Plus some improvements like per voice envelopes and LFOs, better Unison etc etc.

I guess this is all possible in Reaktor aready? But i never really liked the Reaktor interface, or sound, but that was a few years ago, maybe it got a lot better in the meantime?

Although actually you can already use the FX matrix of MPS or MXXX as a modular synth.....so, load up a separate instance of MPS for each OSC, then you can freely route each OSC or NOISE to it's own FX. Unfortunately the ARP is still global though.

Yeah I was going to mention that. You can load an instance of MPS inside MPS and then combine them and if I remember correctly it doesn't add a huge CPU hit unless you're doing tons of voices or oversampling. Its really useful, but I don't think everyone is aware that its possible to to it.

I'd love the ability to switch the arpeggiator preset using automation.

Yeah, actually using the FX matrix as a modular already get's us pretty close to what XYYY needs to be.

The main problem with it is the fact that you don't have any global controls (like glob. env. or tune, poly v. mono etc) when you do it like that.

But in fact i would like to see MYYY have the ability to load a complete MPowerSynth as one "oscillator" in the matrix. Because sometime you want to build up a patch consisting of 2 complete synths, and you don't want to have to re-invent (i.e. route from scratch) each synth because it's time consuming.

So in MYYY each oscillator should actually be a complete synth (MPowerSynth?), and if you only want to use it as a simple oscillator, that's up to you.

If MYYY only has simple oscillators and you need to build everything from scratch, then it'll be an opportunity lost IMO as this sort of thing is already possible in Reaktor and will negate some of the power of the way it is at the moment.

So the main thing MYYY would need would be special MPS's that let you choose whether the local global controls stay local, or link to the global global controls, if you see what i mean!

Hmmmm, clear as mud me-thinks!

It's a bit more complex than that, mainly because in MXXX everything is global, but in MYYY there will need to be instances for everything for each voice, plus modulation etc. But I'm really looking forward!
