It is, but its specs are impressive considering it hooks to a 1MHz CPU!

MIDI: 1 in, 1 thru, 4 out
Drum triggers: 8 out
Ext. clock: in, out; enable/disable in, out
Footswitch: 1

The connectors are solid, and the case is made of very solid metal. Best-made C64 accessory I ever saw. PC and Mac accessories should be so solid! :-D

My first MIDI UART was actually something I did myself. My second computer was an CocoMax (CP400) that had a RS323 port. I found a program that I could use to output MIDI using that same port. BUT, there were actually 2 programs. One to create the song, up to 4 voices, and another to play the song. It was crazy. No input-recording at all... Also, the MIDI thing I was using to play the song was actually an Yamaha DrumMachine that had some instruments too. It was pretty lame, but worked for some time. ;-)

After I got a Casio CZ keyboard. And I also short-circuited the MIDI outputs to connect both at the same time. With time I managed to burn something up... :o

 One time I was doing a strobo-light and it burned, almost took the whole house down! :D

I also loved to play with explosives, until I almost lost my head... stoped after that... parents went nuts! :hyper: I was pretty crazy. But always did things alone on the basement...

I managed to burn my old GameTeather(DREAM) card. Trying to plug several external gear to the internal mixer. I used the wrong connections and it went POP!! It was a very expensive card at that time... got a sbLive after that. :P

Believe it or not, in third grade one of my favorite books at the elementary school library was "Fun With Fireworks."

It was shelved along with titles like "Fun With Cardboard," "Fun With Trick Photography," and "Fun With Miniature Scenes." Told how to make your own pyrotechnic devices using raw chemicals, twine, and paper. Had a couple paragraphs at the front telling you not to blow off limbs like other kids did every year... then turned you loose with formulae and assembly directions.

Great fun.

I suspect it's not in school libraries any more.

still with all paws and such, by dumb luck no doubt

[edit] Rejected titles from the same series of books:

"Fun With Garden Hoses and Basements"
"Fun With The Girl (or Boy) Next Door"
"Fun With War Surplus Canteens"
"Fun With Prank Phone Calls"

Those are nice, at least we never had "nuke your friend" books!

I feel your pain, William. I have had this "future shock" lately myself. I used to have an MC-50 as well. Actually that was a great machine. And definitely a step up from the Yamaha QX21 that I started on. Come to think of it, the first actual sequencing I did asied from the programable arp on the Pro One was the awful built in sequencer on the equally awful Roland D-10. Funny though, at the time my output was nothing short of prolific. I had tape after tape full up with strange compositions. Lately I have been missing my Yamaha SU 700 more than ever. All this power at my fingertips, and new instruments alost every week.... and here's me not able to finish a single piece of music.
I need to collaborate with someone again. Get me interested again.

Hey. one thing that has kind of worked for me is looking through Sonic Spot and DL'ing old and somewhat primitive software from there. The latest I tried and actually had quite a bit of fun with is the AXS (i think... ) - an old multi-timbral VA with a built in tracker and sample player. Fun for an evening, and felt a bit more free the next day when I switched on Energy XT.
Just a thought.

Yeah, the good old AXS. I managed to legaly register it from here, sent money on a letter! :D Got a disk with my name on the program, was fun... but is too limited.

I saw some MC50, used, but the problem is that it uses disk and is very slow...

Good news, I'm happy again with my "musical" side of me! :hihi:

I tested Tracktion again, and thanks to Jules, I'm very pleased with this host. :hail:

First, I managed to get 2 Send-Effects easly using the new "racks" option. Thanks also for the Tutorial on how to do it the right way.

Also, I found easly a DX to VST adapter, so I can use my new Anwida Reverber. :P

Already did some test tracks, and found very easy to use, light, fast to work with.

I'm back in action!

Latter I will start doing some new songs. And will also review Tracktion. (or would that be a problem?)

Best Regards, WilliamK

Glad Tracktion is working for you, William. I've been loving it for the past year.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

I miss Voyetra!

my first sequencer was voyetra's "sequencer plus"

all I can say now is, "God bless Charlie Steinberg"

My first sequencers were two 303's with memory mod's to quadruple the number of patterns/songs. One was hooked up to an SH101, the other to an Arp AXXE. After that it was all sorts of horrible things that culminated in Korg's M1->O1/W->Trinity. Nothing on God's green Earth would make me go back even though I still think Trinity's sequencer is the second-best I have ever used.
NOVAkILL : Legion GO, AMD Z1x, 16GB RAM, Win11 | Audient EVO 8 | Lumi Keys | Studio Pro 8
Korg Odyssey, bx-oberhausen, Proxima, PolyMax, GR8, JP6K, Union, Atomika,
Invader 2, Flow Motion, Olga, TRK 01, Thorn, Spire, VG Iron

it might seem nuts, but i still miss creator 1.3

i haven't found anything that compares, at least in my mind. Orion is nice, fl is nice, and Muzys came the closest in terms of sequencing. Maybe I am just dense, but i found cubase didn't seem like making music - it felt more like math with samples. logic... i know it came from the same people as creator did, but really i never came across a sequencer that i like less. again, i am sure it's me, not logic. energy xt, i love it but i'm f**ked if i can finish anything with it. it's brilliant, and i'm not. :P
since it seems that muzys is gone, i guess i won't find that pattern based mixed with linear in the perfect balance thing i am wishing for...
i am gonna shell out for podium soon, because i actually finish songs in it.

... and i still miss creator. :?:  :?:

i am either old, or crazy.
well, i could definitely be both at the same time.
i must be f**ked if i can't find satisfaction in any of the four hosts i own...
either that or talentless. can't rule that out.
