sidrat you come across as exactly one of those whinney rats I was talking about
i certainly won't be unhappy if my path never crosses yours again
You see the thread that you indicated i should read makes a single line of reference to the bugs you later choose to moan about - thats one line in a few hundred basically cursing steinberg - most of which are just general rants - not naming bugs or offering solutions but accusing them of fraud etc
I beleive the solution is you turn off multiple processors in cubase - hardly a showstopper if your running two apps at once but hey i might have got that wrong - cos i did just look for about 30 seconds
why pay it so little attention ? - cos at the heart is the notion that steinbergs desire to make money is somehow an offense. its the way of it - and moaning at them is unlikely to make much difference -to quote from your thread
"I understand your frustration. We all share it. What do we do about it? Pick the product that we like and pressure the company to make it better. Or switch if you truly think that you've found a better company that will give you more of what you need. I'm sure that Steinberg would love to put out a better product as well. When we're polite, I'm sure that they love to hear from users.
My 2 cents while I wait for coffee."

Soooo, why don't you do that then? Oh well, 150 bucks would not get you really far would they?frankly, i'd rather spend my money on building a cheap pc daw (that cubase will run great on) than give my bucks to steinberg to fix the bugs that plagued the mac version of sx2...
I don't even think he meant you you know - he was merely complaining about the whiners of which there are many on the Cubase forums, of which you obviously are not a part.i have been a registered AND paying steinberg customer since the days when the atari was a viable platform for cubase(!), you ignorant turd.
[EDIT:] Oh, well now he did
Still sorry Cubase doesn't work too nicely for you...
Cheers, Jo

Like I said in my first post, I might feel differently if I were a Mac Cubase customer. No need to be so harsh.sidrat wrote:i have been a registered AND paying steinberg customer since the days when the atari was a viable platform for cubase(!), you ignorant turd. all i want is for steinberg to take it's mac customers a little more seriously and provide the features that it promised in it's advertisements.kuniklo wrote:I went for it. As for the Cubase forum, it's loaded with whiners. I really wish they'd restrict it to paying, registered customers.
It does beg the question though. Why not run Logic if you're on the Mac, or why stick with the Mac if you really want Cubase?

look, i'm not trying to pick any fights here, but i hope you can appreciate how offensive/dismissive it sounds to a person who's invested a -lot- of money into a product that doesn't work like it's advertised.
sorry, kuniklo but my previous statements were in response to comments like "you come across as exactly one of those whinney rats I was talking about", "steinberg didnt let me f**k their daughters so I want everything for free they cry" and "the Cubase forum, it's loaded with whiners. I really wish they'd restrict it to paying, registered customers".
running logic isn't an option for me. i used to own it and didn't like it at all. that's why i use cubase...
my point was that i can build a pc daw for not that much more than the upgrade price to sx3. if i did that, i'd be able to run my favorite audio app with the performance that was promised (but not delivered) for the mac version. plus, i'd be able to use more plugins with it than on my mac because steinberg have decided to be the only major sequencer NOT to support apple's audiounit plugin architecture (even though they support dx on the pc).
the net effect would be cubase screaming on it's own machine and and no feeling of being screwed by handing over my cash to a company that doesn't take it's mac support very seriously. win/win...
this is the first time in my life that i've actually envied pc users for anything. too bad apple didn't buy steinberg instead of emagic

I wasn't directing those comments at you. Sorry if it came off that way. I'm just frustrated that the Cubase forums have become so hostile that the mods won't post any impressions of SX3 out of fear of being attacked and accused.sidrat wrote:look, i'm not trying to pick any fights here, but i hope you can appreciate how offensive/dismissive it sounds to a person who's invested a -lot- of money into a product that doesn't work like it's advertised.

I've had no problems with SX2 on the PC but my impression from the forums is that it sucks on the Mac right now. I'd probably be pretty frustrated too if I were trying run it on a Mac.
On the other hand, I think you do have to cut Steinberg a little slack. All the big vendors have had a rough time transitioning to Os X, which has been a constantly moving and evolving target for the last few years. There are a lot of very grumpy Reaktor Mac users out there too, for example. The music software business is a competitive and relatively low-profit business so I can partly understand why very complex applications like Reaktor and Cubase take a while to get right on a niche platform in the midst of a lot of flux.

Sorry to interrupt the flow of negativity, but SX2 has been running just fine on my Dual G5.
I only run one Rewire app (Reason), so it appears that I've been spared the dual processor Rewire issue. MIDI timing has been consistently good, no audio engine glitches, no p00fs and plugin compatibility has been excellent. What can I say? I've been blessed.

I urge you too look at the number of posts the ranting users in that thread have put up on the message board. 60 or 70 each. that is feck all. Take your advice from the likes of PookyNR in that thread, who has sent thousands.sidrat wrote:i'm not sure if i'll be giving pinnacle any more of my money...
check out this thread:

I would hope just as much that you wouldn't treat me with any seriousness if i took to a similar rant here, given that i have only posted about 20 or 30 posts in this forum...

However, I'm still PC less. Can't seem to get the case I want in Germany, well not quickly anyway
I think the new features are worth the cash, Steiny needs to stay in business so we are somewhere to focus our anger
I had a hell of a time on SX-1, much better with SX-2,
maybe 3rd time is a charm, so maybe T2 with come out and I sell my Steiny dongle....

I used to run VST 4 on a G3 and was pleased.
I left 'sequencing' for about 2 years after selling the MAC.
I then decided to buy a G4 dual 867, and buy a copy of Logic Express, I hated it, couldnt get used to it, so sold it and bought Cubase SL2.
I was frustrated learning little glitches, like the Rewire one (especially after spending £200 on Reason) and felt that MAC support for Cubase had gone downhill a little.
I sold the Mac and used the money to upgrade my PC, it was cheaper even with £250 spent on a new soundcard.
I think its probably fair to say the dedicated Cubase fans are now better off using a PC
As Apple will no doubt focus on Logic mostly now.
But to go back to topic, I'll have to see how much it is to upgrade my SL2 to SX3

It's about the price difference between SL2 and SX2 plus the price for the upgrade 2->3.very steep
Steep? Just the logical price, methinks.
If SL is fine for you just wait for SL3 which is probably due in a few weeks - you might even have the benefit of a first fix (if necessary) already out by then.

HI
Steep; yes, but if you don't own the premium product you always get a hit.
When I looked into upgrading Logic Audio to Platinum they wanted almost the full price!
All these deals are set-up to 'bring' in new customers in the hope that they will upgrade.
Although saying that I do feel for you, if you read the begining of the thread you will see that I held onto the two front pages of the Logic manual and sent it to Arbiter yesterday to secure my cross-grade to SX2 for £299 with a £9.99 upgrade to SX3 when its avalible - oh well there will be no Samplitude day out now, perhaps Arbiter can give me back the two pages?
Flipper.
