Ok i bought (upgraded) to D4. what about the old serial number? In my new account I can't find it and didn't have to enter it anywhere. Is D4 just in my new account without the need of having a personal serial number?
Yes new GUI is better but still a bit small to be honest hah!
But wow, what an improvement and AMAZING new presets.
Happy about the update. Haven't used D3 in a few years because of the cramped UI.
Well done, Audio Damage!
EDIT: ok, didn't see I can resize the GUI! excellent!!!

You have to have the old version installed for the update version to work I believe.

It worked without the old one installed.ATS wrote:miro pajic wrote:Ok i bought (upgraded) to D4. what about the old serial number? In my new account I can't find it and didn't have to enter it anywhere. Is D4 just in my new account without the need of having a personal serial number?

Another question though: What about saving peresets? When trying to save, it opens the finder, which I hate tbh. Now seems I need to find the root of where the presets are....

I still use V2, V1 always sounded like garbage to me (pitch-wise) and V3 was just too different to make friends with. The V3 issue might just have been that particular UI. V4 looks cool, adds a reverb and new LFO's I guess, and really, for $10, it's not a big deal to upgrade and give it a 'test run' eh.

AD doesn't use copy protection / DRM / serial numbers anymore.miro pajic wrote:Ok i bought (upgraded) to D4. what about the old serial number? In my new account I can't find it and didn't have to enter it anywhere. Is D4 just in my new account without the need of having a personal serial number?

You cant actually do a zero delay granular pitch shift but you can set the delay down to the size of the buffer. Then you'll have a normal pitchshifter. This was possible in discord 3 also.Gone soft wrote:Did I understand the manual correctly that the delays can now be set to zero seconds? Which should mean it can be used as straightforward granular or pitchshifting effect with no extra delay? Anyone that has the latest version than can tell me if I'm wrong or not here?

I see there's no demo for this. So how does it sound?
I make Electronica, Idm, Glitch and Ambient and love sound design. Will this do the trick?
I did see the audio demos but they don't show that much - so is this a good pitch shifter without the ugly artifacts?
@Ah_Dziz How is this compared to Unfiltered Audio pitch shifters like Fault?

Hello
I think i am missing something on the saving/loading side of presets.
Created a new preset and saved it to my regular preset folder
Now when i load up Dis4 and attempt to load that saved preset i cannot find any load button located within the copy/paste/save/delete/close options available in the disclosure menu.
What am i missing?
Regards
Krzysztof

Previous entries in the Discord series have been all about the artifacts, the manual for Discord 3 explicitly discourages and warns those looking for a clean pitch shifter. This hasn't been upgrade to sound much cleaner as such as far as I can see, it's more for creative mangling that embraces various artifacts.Soarer wrote:is this a good pitch shifter without the ugly artifacts?
EDIT: it's called Discord, not Beauty-chord - that's a major hint of the character and proposed uses right there

I've been updating all of these.
I've got just about everything they have done anyway, so when a new one comes out, I'm in.
Must say they are a bit thirsty on the old CPU though. Axon 2 is just about unusable on my system. It's worse than Tremor!
- talking about a very old system here.
Going to grab Filterstation soon. https://www.audiodamage.com/products/ad ... erstation2
Only a few quid to upgrade if you own the earlier versions.
Very interested in this. I have Discord 3 so another 10 bucks is nothing.
This is the upgrades page if you missed it:

If you have a few old AD plugs then you might be pleasantly surprised what you can get updated here.
I'm looking forward to putting them on a new proper machine. Then perhaps they won't be such dogs. Time to come in to the 21st Century I suppose.

Ok so just upgraded. Here's my first impressions:
So far, I think it's a really nice update. I'd say it's mostly cosmetic, but don't underestimate (like I first did) that point. It's much more cleaner, way easier to see what is going on and everything is way better laid out than Discord 3, making it more fun to use. So I think the general workflow improved a lot. GUI is re-sizeable. For $10 bucks it's already worth it right there.
On the sonic side, the sound engine where the pitch shifting happens seems very similar (if not identical) to what is was, although now there's a panorama section for better stereo control. And of course there's that really nice reverb now, that it fed up back into the feedback line to create quite unusual and unique feedback effects. And there's a freeze function for it, pretty cool bonus.
The only thing I'm not happy with is that it seems Audio Damage got rid of the random LFO it had in previous version. For organic and more chaotic effects I'm definitely going to miss it (I just emailed Chris from AD to ask him why and if it could be something added back in a near future update).
So far, like others said if you already own it for $10 it's a total no brainer.
Cheers!

Thanks for clarifying that. So it's great for mangling, sounds good. Do you find the artifacts cool then? Will it sound great pitching/mangling a synth line?Gone soft wrote:Previous entries in the Discord series have been all about the artifacts, the manual for Discord 3 explicitly discourages and warns those looking for a clean pitch shifter. Would have been nice with a demo though.
