IKM's Classic Compressor was surprisingly good for gluing purposes too (before I stopped using it).

Just curious but why did you stop using it? Have you found a better one like eg the Omni?

Because I really dig the Classic Comp. Not everytime and on every material but this one is definitely one of the first I try.

And yeah, I really like to work with VOS Slick HDR too. But only on my master as a finisher. And with really subtle settings (mostly greens).

Hi It was because I kept having problems with IK's stuff - sometimes it wouldn't work because of permissions. I would have to make sure I had 'run as administrator' ticked on loads of bloody things to do with IK's and my DAW executables. A nightmare.. so I just uninstalled it all.

My recommendation is IK Multimedia's Bus Compressor at $75, with the "NAMMSLAM" discount coupon, or Precision Comp/Limiter on sale at $50. Both products are available at the said prices through the end of this month.

Both great choices. The Neve will give you extra flexibility though. As cool and as iconic as the SSL Buss Compressor is, it lacks flexibility.

Something worth considering.

Actually, about the SSL, I noticed they do a version with a 1.5 ratio, I’ve only noticed them with a 2 minimum ratio. On further investigation I noticed that both type exists.

So my earlier comments on th SSL compressor not being quite as flexible isn’t entirely true. I believe that’s only in association with the 4000 Version.

In other news, I think the Elysia Alpha, Vertigo VSC-2, Waves BSS DPR-402, API 2500, H-Comp are indeed flexible enough to go on submixes (groups) and mix busses.

Lindell is very difficult controls, can't see don't understand
Rough Rider one I liked much better than two, new one has silly controls
Can't find RR1
