Send sbangs_air a PM if you have any problems with AIR or inMusic stuff, you'll likely get a quicker response than going through the support system. Also check out the official sub-forum here.

He hasn't replied to anyone in that forum, including me, since December 6th or something.

Mutantdog, I will try sending him a PM. Thanks! Thanks also to dandezebra and, especially Gamma-UT whose suggestion I will try as soon as I'm back on my studio computer. Also to Uncle E who responded to my PM. Thank you all, for your responses.
Between the various suggestions, hopefully I'll get it sorted, but I'm not happy about having to jump through hoops just to get a response from AIR Music support re: a product I just purchased.

Does Mixed in Key software ever go on sale?
Their Captain Chord plugins look interesting and because they offer a crossgrade from Odesi I am tempted to pick up their master collection bundle first.

Just read they require you to be on the internet *all the time* to fully use Captains plugins.mgw38 wrote: Their Captain Chord plugins look interesting...
No go (at least for me)
Is Internet access required? (Yes)

You can use Captain plugins offline to play the MIDI you've already written. However, you need to be connected to the Internet to write new MIDI notes inside the plugins themselves. Our generators require Internet access.
So what happens when you're on a laptop, flying on an airplane? You can write MIDI notes inside Live and play them using Captain plugins, but you won't be able to generate a new chord progression using our User Interface. Internet is becoming common everywhere, even in the sky. Most studios have wifi. This requirement is usually not a problem.

Yes, that is a bit of a downer.dermage wrote:Just read they require you to be on the internet *all the time* to fully use Captains plugins.mgw38 wrote: Their Captain Chord plugins look interesting...

That they feel a need to state this implies it's something they've had complaints about... Seems like a strange requirement that will obviously put some people off.dermage wrote:Most studios have wifi. This requirement is usually not a problem.

Don't know if anyone else (in the US) had this issue, but I went to buy something from Chocolate Audio, which uses FastSpring as their payment processor, and after selecting PayPal and coming back to the checkout, they were going to charge me 8% tax. I don't live in CA or any other state which they may charge sales tax in.
When I contacted FastSpring, they said they couldn't do anything unless an order was placed (good luck). So be careful when checking out via FastSpring of what you are being charged. I let Chocolate Audio know, as they may be losing sales if others are experiencing this as well.

It's not like laptop based studios are becoming a thing...mutantdog wrote:That they feel a need to state this implies it's something they've had complaints about... Ugh...I would be one of those people. Sounds like a copy protection scheme.mutantdog wrote:That they feel a need to state this implies it's something they've had complaints about... I would worry that I would be subject to the availability of their program. You pay for something they decide not to support any more? Yeah, no.KeithAdv wrote:Ugh...I would be one of those people. I can't see any good reason why it would need internet access to function. Perhaps something to do with it being in beta phase but i'm not sure. Looking at their website, the whole marketing seems odd and a little suspect.

it's some special magic they can only do on their serversmutantdog wrote:I can't see any good reason why it would need internet access to function. Perhaps something to do with it being in beta phase but i'm not sure. Looking at their website, the whole marketing seems odd and a little suspect.
on GS there are also quite some people (most of them actually) who are put off by always on.
feature wise this looks a bit like rapid composer, doesn't it? And RC can do the magic offline
