Yeah, I know they're cheap to begin with.

My company used to use a Web design tool that was self-contained at first but during one upgrade the manufacturer suddenly decided to move part of its functionality to their own server, requiring you to be always on--and they admitted it was primarily for the purpose of copy protection.dzilizzi wrote:I would worry that I would be subject to the availability of their program. You pay for something they decide not to support any more? Yeah, no.KeithAdv wrote:Ugh...I would be one of those people. Sounds like a copy protection scheme.mutantdog wrote:That they feel a need to state this implies it's something they've had complaints about... Seems like a strange requirement that will obviously put some people off.dermage wrote:Most studios have wifi. This requirement is usually not a problem.
I have no problem with copy protection but this just inserts too many potential problems in the chain:
- Your internet goes down, you're out of luck.
- Their internet goes down, you're out of luck.
- Their server gets fried, you're out of luck.
- They go out of business, you're out of luck.
- They suddenly decide to discontinue the product line, you're out of luck.
No thank you. We dropped them the day they made the change.
It was a dark day when Adobe began selling software subscriptions and a darker day every time small companies without Adobe's financial resources try to follow suit. This sounds like it's in that ballpark.
But that's just one guy's opinion and I'm frequently reminded that I don't know anything.

Anyone have any thoughts on PA's newsletter? I kept waiting in January for the last week's flash sale that never arrived. This month they only have a few plugs on sale from February 9th - 11th.
I honestly haven't paid attention to what they were doing in years until this last Black Friday and Christmas. I finally got my voucher up to $35 (took me 5 years!) and I need to know what to spend it on! Ha!
Is this style of monthly sale normal?
Should we expect more flash sales as a surprise?

Seems like a fairly bog-standard sale, I'm fairly certain I've seen Indent at $19 a few times last year. From the wording of the email there's no indication that this will be the only flash-sale. The sub-heading reads: "A look at what we have planned this month" which implies it's not necessarily the full picture. I might be reading too much into it though.

I did last month for sure. I kept waiting for the last sale and then bought something here and used my voucher on the transfer fee as it was the best bang for my buck! Who am I kidding, I'm just waiting for Zip or SpecOps to go on sale!

You don't only have to choose items that are on sale. I used my voucher last month to ''purchase'' a full priced item for free.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

We're not all part of the bourgeoisie $75-voucher-club, some of us peasants have to get by on a mere $25 a month.

Depends how much do you need this one. I´ve got loads of Eqs, even many Pultec emulations, among other UA Pultec, which is hard to beat. PA offers have been rather lame so far in 2018.murnau wrote:Can't complain when i can get the Lindell Audio PEX-500 for $14 this weekend.

Yeah, I think I got Indent for free w/ voucher, but I paid to upgrade to Indent 2 which included Dent 2, as well.mutantdog wrote:Seems like a fairly bog-standard sale, I'm fairly certain I've seen Indent at $19 a few times last year.
