Would make a typical late 70s TV intro.

Reminds me of The littelist Hobo kind of thing, or with more guitar an 80s hairband
Scheps all over this one...that phrase sounds like a cliche for slathered in sh*t. Try using a "pro chain" by someone who is at least producing the same genre. Elton John produced by Dre...naww
I've deleted your nasty comment from Soundcloud and have blocked you from making anymore nasty comments.
So you pulled a "Trump" if you don't agree it's "fake news".

Autotune can be as distasteful as it gets, but it can also be pretty unnoticeable if that is the intention.

Of course it doesn't matter whether others enjoy it, except if it is kinda important to you that others enjoy it. One doesn't post their music all over the place hoping that it won't be enjoyed. Those who really aren't that bothered whether people like their music don't tend to post

gas pump wrote:I'm not much for the talkbox, vocoder or vocal synth type sounds being the primary lyrics, but it's a stylistic choice and not the rules governed by the KVR musician police.
In many cases it can be a stylistic choice. However, in this case, it is not. On more than one occasion, Wag's has explained that he uses it because he cannot sing i.e What he believes to be the lesser of two evils.

In Wags' case, Vocaloid is, more often than not, totally at odds with the music style, and it just doesn't serve the compositions.

Either way, nobody is policing anyone. All people are doing is telling him how much their enjoyment of his music is spoiled by his use of something that is only there as a placeholder.
gas pump wrote:I would rather hear something new and futuristic, then the same old recycle and rebirth of a rock song, even with a human voice. They call it classic rock for a reason.
Well, if you are familiar with Wags' catalogue, he actually spends a lot of time paying tribute to the acts that have inspired him, through his life. I don't even think he would claim that fusing prog. rock and vocaloid is futuristic. Again, he'll just tell you it's there because he can't find anyone else to sing for him.

And Wags: Perhaps you could look for vocalists on Fiverr
Without Autotune you would probably have about 10% of the music being released. Most people use some sort of pitch correction, it's been the "industry standard" for decades. The Cher song "Believe" was probably born out of an experiment and a "happy accident". Like many new things that are invented and discovered by "getting out of the way".

If my tools are only the talkbox, vocoder and vocal synth then I'd find a way to make it the most creative and enjoyable translation in a song. I wouldn't use it as an excuse not to make something you're happy with.

Finding "anyone" to sing on your songs isn't the answer, it's about finding a great performer that knows how to emote emotion through vocal technique and singing experience. And most importantly, it is about connecting and relating to the song lyrics and being able to convey them truthfully. Also having a unique and stylistic delivery. That's why it's so hard for everyone to find the "diamonds" in the rough, because there are so few of them out there.

And around again we go, that's why Autotune was invented. You could also say stacking vocals is also a crutch, but some of us believe it's a stylistic choice.

Exactly!!!! You made my point better than I did :tu:

And that is why Vocaloid is never going to be the answer; not even as an 'It'll do' substitute

Shove your whooping and hollering behind someone else.

I am not throwing any shade, I just think he could do better for his music. Dig??

No, but telling somebody not to quit their day job isn't constructive criticism. It's just being a douche.

I can't put it any plainer than that.

You can disagree all you like. What exactly am I supposed to do to suddenly turn my music into solid gold Grammy material?

Go on. I'm listening. And please don't tell me Fiverr.

As I've already said, you could play to your strengths. Like all other artists who either can't sing, or don't have any interest in singing, you could concentrate on writing instrumental music.

Stop spitting at me, Wagenheim! I didn't "TELL" you about Fiverr; Rather, I thought it might have been a helpful suggestion, that you might not have considered.

First of all, I'm not spitting at anybody. Stop reading more into my responses than there is.

As for writing instrumental music, not interested in doing just instrumental music. And I've done plenty of instrumental music and none of that has gotten me anywhere either. The big labels want songs. Complete songs. I know there are songwriters out there (especially in Nashville) who make a living writing songs and some of them don't sing either. Now, how they did it, how they broke in, I have no idea. I have no contacts in the business so I don't know who to go to in order to ask questions and get advice. I'm on my own. What research I've done and the avenues I've taken over the course of 40 plus years have produced marginal results at best.

Like I said, if I had the bux, I'd just go out and pay to have somebody record these things and be done with it. I don't. So I make the most with what I have.

So no, I don't want to write instrumental music. It's like telling somebody who wants to be a ballet dancer, why not become a tap dancer? It's easier. If they have no desire to be a tap dancer they might as well not do anything at all because they're not going to be happy being a tap dancer.

That's the best analogy I can give you.

Wag, you succumbed. Remember, after you post your music to KVR you have to resist, on the pain of death, not to reply to people's posts about it, especially on KVR. Your music is fine. Let it be. Don't feed into these trolls. And for those that troll you if they have their music posted just go listen to it, it will give you some good context for the comments you are getting (eg. are they doing anything better?)

Can we get this thread back on topic?

Which is all I did with posting that track. Here's something I did using Scheps. I liked the sound. That's all this was supposed to be. Not another "Let's blast Wagtune's music to death because that's what we love to do around here" session.

As for listening to their music, maybe I'm just not all that critical but I like a lot of the stuff these guys do, I love your stuff. It's one of the reasons I'm following you on Soundcloud. Except, for whatever reason, I never get notified when somebody I follow posts a track. Isn't that what following is supposed to do?

Anyway, my final words on Scheps. I think it's my favorite channel strip and has really surprised me with its sound.

And with that, I'd like to be just done with this whole stupid Wagtunes music thing. It wasn't my intention. Honestly. I just wanted them to hear Scheps and what it sounded like.
