I noticed somebody wanted to sell GPO but you refused the licence transfer. I know through the forums that buyers despise vendors that refuse the sale of software - I have found that software companies such as Arturia and NI have no problem with software transfers and 1) increases the saleability of the product 2) increases sales to legit users beacuse if they later don't like it they can sell it.
I know of 2 other vendors that have the same 'attitude' Spectrosonics and Image Line.
I believe it is immoral to not allow 2nd hand sale of your product when the vendor was willing to pay for the product and every audio release is avaliable for nothing via the undegroung warez network for nothing. I suggest if you dont wish software transfers for nothing you at least offer a transter for a set fee decided for yourself - I suggest $80 for GPO perhaps????
To not allow resale of a licence will only alienate users of the product -- you must support people who are willing to pay for the product -- if you dont -- more warez probably.
I have Image Line products - I won't sell them cos they they are great but I know they are worth F**k all cos I can't sell them - so they are worth as much as the warez crap !!! :? :? :?

Spectrasonics does allow transfers for a $50 I believe now. That's a rare exception in this business. License transfers for SAMPLE based products are pretty much unheard of otherwise. With a sample based product, you buy the right to use the sounds, not the software. To me, it's fair. They're just protecting their IP.

Ok - they sound state it in big letters infront of the product if they don't allow resale. Otherwise sorry, It's wrong.... :(

GPO also has software, not only samples.

Are you seriously writing to Gary Garritan as if he would ever read this forum?

Don't call me crazy - I don't give a shit if anything I do goes platinum - I have a career which is unrelated that pays well. Music is a hobby to me - I don't need to earn anything from it - the post is simply to help Gary and I am giving a opinion of my views to 1) express my views 2) to help his customer relations. That's all :)

I understand your point of view though :) :? :nutter: :D :D :D

Hm,i really can't understand that. You just get a license that allows you to use the Samples, not a license to give that right to someone else.
For me thats fair.
These Sample-Libs are not like cheap Music or Movies, they can't sell a new one every Month to the same user.

And why should it alienate users?I assume a user wants to use a product. The license should not restrict the use of the samples in any way,at least thats all i need.

If you want a public Discussion about it,with Mr.Garritan involved,i sugest you try the ns-forum.

I don't have GPO - I have only heard the demos - I think they are VERY GOOD. I do have Sib 2 - so I am thinking of upgrading to Sib 3 and getting GPO but i'm not yet satisfied of the 'meshing' between the two products.

Post

Nothing wrong with a public discussion here! All we need from software vendors is a policy implemented at the time of purchase. 1) You can't sell it. 2) You can, but you have to pay X amount to transter the licence 3) Yeah it's OK to sell the licence.

No-one OWES any of the software they have on the computer - only the licence!!!

Music sodtware vendors should state the polcy at the piont of sale. I personally am not keen on buying stuff tha you can't resale unless it is very cheap

ok well thanks for the swear words guys (strav you punk).

Well I for one, OWN GPO LEGALLY and if you used it all the time like I do you would not be complaining about selling the samples, you would be too busy using them because they rock. Seriously.

And another thing-just 'give' your GPO to your friend and have him "donate" 200 bucks to you for no reason. Now it's legal.

Make sure you use cash. you have to help him update it too though. should not be so hard-send him the links in the email.

For all you PC people change all the "him" words to "her"

Ok so this WHOLE ENTIRE POST IS DONE BY SOMEONE WHO NEVER EVEN BOUGHT THE GPO? NO WONDER GARY WONT RESPOND BACK TO YOU.

EVEN IF HE DOES, IT WONT HELP HIS SALES VERY MUCH AT ALL.

I HAVE A FEELING THAT "OTHER CAREER" THAT STRAV100 HAS DOES NOT INVOLVE SOFTWARE SALES OR SOFTWARE DESIGN. IT'S JUST A PROFESSIONAL "HUNCH."

CHEERS TO THE AWFUL TRUTH!
