Piano roll will not "preview" notes

Hello! I apologize if this is a much asked question, but I am experiencing some trouble with the Tracktion T6 piano roll. I am not using a MIDI keyboard, just inputting the notes via the pencil function. The usual "preview" sound that I would normally hear when inputting a note is missing. It remains silent when I click on it too, when it would usually play the note. However, when I play back the sequence of notes, I can hear it like normal. I have looked through all the settings so see if I accidentally disabled something but nothing has changed, and everything is obviously working or why would the sequence sound normally when being played back?

I would really appreciate some advice on this problem.

There should be a little speaker icon in the MIDI edit bar when you mouse over the clip. Make sure it's switched.
