I am new to Linux, and would like to explore it on a Mac Mini which I used to use for Pro Tools.... before I found Tracktion. I haven't used it since, and I wonder if I can put linux on it and use Waveform! Maybe AVLinux? This is an all new area for me, and I think I just might like it. how difficult is it to install? Does Waveform run well on it?
What do you folks use?

AVLinux may be good choice (but I didn't use it at all). Another obvious choice - Ubuntu or Debian or any derivative with KXStudio repositories: http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Repositories
Do you plan to plug audio-gear into your Mac-mini? It's make big sense due audio HW support in Linux.
And yes, I have had running some old openSUSE (13.1 IIRC) on Mac-mini.

I'd dual boot Linux if I were you or keep your old OSX discs handy if you screw it up . It's tricky installing on Mac at least it was when I tried it years and years ago in an old white Intel MacBook. Maybe it's easier now that was years ago . I'd recommend something like Ubuntu 16.04 LTS or get the 18.04 LTS beta it's gonna be out in late April ... and add the KXstudio stuff .

Here you can find some DVD-Linux-Images, wich you can use also on older Mac's:

I used the Ubuntu Studio Distro (16.04 LTS) on my old late 2006 iMac for testing Waveform 9 Beta. It's a 64bit Linux, running on Intel Mac's with 32bit efi.

My Mac has 64 bit efi, as far as I can see. Right now I am taking a look at AVLinux, going to see if I can try that out.
Thanks for the help so far!

Well, I did it...bit the bullet and installed ubuntu Studio. I did a clean install, wiped the old OS away. I think I'll make this a clean Waveform machine.
