The subject line says it all...how in the hell do you bounce MIDI clips to audio?

Thanks!

Add a sound generator to the track then freeze or bounce it - midi on its own is just data

That's my question: how do I bounce a MIDI clip to audio. It's playing a VST-- I want to bounce the MIDI clip out to audio.

Post

( with other DAW's, for example, you generally right-click on the clip and choose 'render in place' or 'bounce in place' )

Use the Render option. Hang on a mo, and I'll add to this...

1. Highlight the track.
2. In the properties panel, click on Render Track.
3. Choose suitable option.

[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Yeah, I was thinking 'Render Clip->Render the Selected Clip'-- but attempting this gives a 'didn't find audio to render' message.

The 'Render Track' button gives me the same message "didn't find audio to render". :(

Surely there's an easy way to bounce out clips (or at least tracks). I couldn't have sworn I've done it before in Tracktion/Waveform....

Which sub-option did you choose? Is Pass Through Plugins still chosen?

If you are using Waveform 9 there is a little file icon on the header of the clip, you can just drag that to another track, your file browser, your loop library, a sampler etc. It will tag the rendered file as an acid loop as well.

Post

Oh, damn! But-- whenever I start to drag a MIDI clip (using the 'file' icon in the header), it starts to render, then when it's done rendering and I continue to drag it into the browser and release it, nothing gets placed in the browser...I'll have to review the manual. :)

*** Never mind--it is working after all :) ****

That's pretty slick!

Slick indeed!

Curious, is there a setting I'm not finding that determines the default rendering parameters when you use the clip's file icon / drag method. It defaults to 44.1 / 24 bit renders, which is a good default, yet some may want something different.

I know you can do a standard render and make it as you like.

It uses your current sample rate / 24 bit / .wav

Post

Sweet!

Just tested it at 88.2 and it worked great.
