How to get T6 to recognize Eventide plugin from iLok

I recently upgraded to new computer. I got T6 reinstalled but am not able to get Tracktion to recognize my Eventide Ultrachannel. It's sitting activated in my iLok but I cannot get T6 to find it when I run a scan in the Settings > Plugins window.

I don't know if I'm not scanning in the correct file, or what. Also not sure if this is a T6, iLok or Eventide problem...or I'm just a knucklehead.

Obviously my experience here is minimal, and the Eventide is the only 3rd party plug in with which I've used iLok.

Any help is appreciated.

Is the folder it's in included in the ones being searched? You may need to add it.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

I'm on a Lenovo Yogo 720 running Windows 10, 64bit v. Traction T6. Does that provide enough info. Sorry about my ignorance.

I have T6 set to scan 6 different folders, including those labeled:

...Programfiles(x86)\iLocklicensemanager\plugins
...documents\musicold\gear\vst\ultrachannel

Those are the only two places I can conceive the Eventide plugin files would be located.

I realized I also cannot get T6 to recognize other plugins that I previously used including several located in that ...gear\vst folder I mention above. Makes me think it's not an iLok problem but a broader issue that I'm having.

One thing from your post that might make a difference is that on Windows 10 on 64-bit PCs there are two folders for Program Files; one is for 32-bit software and is called Program Files (x86), while the other is for 64-bit software and is called just Program Files.

I can't imagine that a plug-in with such a price tag is only available in 32-bit, and as I would expect the 64-bit version to be in the Program Files folder rather than the Program Files (x86) folder, take a look in the former and make sure there's an equivalent iLok folder in it, then add that folder to those that T6 will search.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've set the scan to search the relevant folders in both 32bit and 64bit program file folders. First the 64bit, then removed those and did the 32bit, then both together. Nothing.

Just for kicks I downloaded Reaper to see if I could get the Ultrachannel VST to work in a different DAW. Took a few minutes, but once I had Reaper scanning the correct folder the plugin loaded fine.

So seems like a disconnect between T6 and my plugins. Just to note, my Tracktion Master Mix plug in scanned and loaded fine.

Any other ideas?

Unfortunately there are a few places plugins get installed by default. Depending on whether youve installed the 32-bit version of Tracktion or the 64-bit version of Tracktion you'd normally expect to find plugin files somewhere under

C:\Program Files\ for the 64-bit versions
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\ for the 32-bit versions

For 32-bit vs 64-bit in Tracktion, the plugins need to match the host. (That's not the case in Reaper does somethign 'extra' to see both types).

Have you done a search for the .dll and explicitly added the folder youve found it in into Tracktion's plugin path list?

I'm running the 64bit version of T6.

The Eventide plug in seems to be referenced in two places. I guess I don't know which it is:

Program files > common files > Avid > Audio > Plugins > Eventide - which contains the file UltraChannel.aaxplugin

Program files > common files > Steinberg > VST2 > Eventide - which contains the file UltraChannel.dll

I have T6 set to scan both the Avid and Steinberg folder. When I click "scan" I get nothing. No new plugins identified, no error message.

It's not the aaxplugin one, that's a ProTools plugin format.

Try dragging the UltraChannel.dll from the folder into the plugins list in settings. That sometimes helps, if the scan doesn't pick it up.

Do you definitely not have another copy of the dll in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins ?

The other way to find out where to scan, is to reinstall the plugin, and look in the installer for a point where it asks you what path to install it to. And scan that folder.

I was able to drag the file in. I don't know why I didn't think of trying that sooner.

Still don't know why my T6 is not scanning properly.

Thanks everyone.
