After 7 versions of Tracktion and now Waveform - why won't it work with Waves plugins?

Why does Waveform (and Tracktion) have so many issues with Waves plugins? I have some projects that did work with Waves plugins and now they don't. Yes, the Waves plugins have updated but my other software (Sonar) doesn't have any problems.

I just purchased Waveform because I had hoped it handled plugins better.

I love the workflow of Tracktion/Waveform but come on - one of the most respected plugin developers (Waves) and Waveform struggles to even activate them.

If this is a case of Waves plugins being to expensive to test, many Waves plugins are now $29 so there isn't much reason not to try them.

Are you trying Waves plugins in development? Can you advise what to try? Is there a particular waves installation folder to point Waveform to?

I know the Waves issue has been covered before but it is time something was sorted...Please fix this!

Same problem here - some work, but I really need the SSL 4000 bundle to work with ANY version of Tracktion or Waveform and they don't. I contacted Waves support and they don't even test Tracktion for compatibility. Their website does list at least a dozen DAWs that support Waves plugins. Some are all, some VST, some VST3. The latest Reaper is listed as fully supporting VST3 so I am looking into making the switch. Reaper has a vast library of Videos for every single stage so the new learning curve shouldn't be to much. Tracktion lost my unwavering support when they decided to charge for training videos. Looks like they have come to their senses with that, but sorry - if you can't support Waves plugins, you're a bit too proprietary for my needs.

I would be interested in a response from Tracktion in regards to not being tested for compatibility by Waves.

Do Waves plug-ins work with Cubase yet? Anyway, this might be of interest:

When did that happen?

Quick answer - because it requires Waves to do some engineering work - and its taken them a while to see the need to do so

We are now collaborating together - and resolving known issues

Go here to report specific issues so they can get back to the engineers: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=499942

It's news to me that the SSL 4000 bundle doesn't work in Waveform. I've bought it, and I'm using it fine. Haven't come across a problem yet. Have you actually tried it? If so, what happens?

Here's me using the SSL 4000 bundle in Waveform, with the E channel on every track, and the G master buss compressor on the master out

There was never a point when Tracktion or TSC charged for training videos. That didn't happen.

That was my recollection too.

I know there are some problems for some people with certain waves plugins, but all of my Waves Abbey Road stuff seems to be working fine.

Be sure to try the various formats of the plugins before abandoning hope with a particular Waves plugin. For example, I was bummed that Scheps Omni Channel didn't work until it was pointed out that the VST3 version functions correctly. Usually I find that the VST version is the best choice, but that's not always the case. :)

I don't have any of the Waves instruments, which I gather are the most troublesome, but the effects plugins I have are pretty darn stable in Waveform 9 in MacOS Sierra: Abbey Roads Reverb, Brauer Motion, Chris Lord-Alge Signature Series, F6, Greg Wells Collection, H-Series, IR1, JJP Drums (VST3), Kramer Tape, NX, Reel ADT, RS56, Scheps 73, Scheps Omni (VST3), Scheps PP, SuperTap, Vitamin, VU Meter, and Tune RT.

I have a lot of Waves plugins and have not had an issue either. Do try the various flavors (au, VST, vst3) if one seems to crap out on you.

As to Reaper, great DAW but you better like tweaking every little thing and setting. Drove me a bit batty tbh.

I've got most of those too, apart from H-Series, Brauer Motion, Greg Wells, JJP Drums, Kramer Tape, Scheps PP and Tune RT... you been buying these when they drop to about $29, like I have? ;)

I've also got Abbey Road Vinyl, CLA-2A, CLA-76, Doubler, Pusher, L2, Musicians 2 Bundle, NLS, REDD and the SSL 4000 collection, which I run on Windows 10. Don't think I've got problems with any of them (leaving aside the Scheps Omni Channel only works in the VST3 version, not the VST2, which has weird gui issues)

I think the "waves plugins don't work in Tracktion" angle has been overplayed, tbh ... the instruments have issues, but I imagine they share a common "instrument plugin" code base, which has a bug. So fix one, fix all the instruments ... i don't own any waves instruments
