sqigls wrote:Hey what's the go with these magnet-like centre indent things on the frequency knobs!?
If they can't be disabled i can't use this thing. The energy required to get the pot out of the indent then has the pot flying madly to the the next indent
This is normal. It isn't a continuous control, it has stepped positions like the real API 550 it is emulating.

Starting at 18,85$ for the Omega Transformer plugins - No physical iLok needed!
This is sweet, very very sweet. Too bad I have sworn not to support companies all together that just can't seem to cut the physical iLok crap entirely.

i understand this, but do me a favour - try using it on a macbook, ie. two figer scroll on the track pad. It's how i use all of my plugins, NEED to use, as my carpel tunnel is a nightmare. and I'm not sure if you're familiar with the hardcore deep clicks on a macbook, but it's very painful.
Generally, nearly every plugin is a breeze with this method, but this stepped thing should be an option, the locking thing i mean, it's totally unessential to have it. The values aren't stepped, it's just a lock at each frequency position... try it, please. Empathise me.

I've yet to try this particular plug, but often these fixed position type affairs allow you to click on the frequency on the outside of the knob. Try that, if you haven't already. When it works, it's just a simple single-click :tu:

yeah cheers, but t's not actually fixed frequency though, that's the thing.

I guess I misunderstood.

well, it looks like it is, but it just has those indented value positions. But if it were hardware you just turn it a tad harder, but in this case you need to wiggle the mouse to pull it out. it doesn't translate to the trackpad too well.
The novelty must be there for somebody, but really, for a plugin, it's just shy of of a full body eye-roll.

Works for me, the indent is very subtle and I can scroll with the mouse or mouse wheel between the indents like with any other plugin

GreyLion wrote:I just now opened the email for Audio Assault's Dominator metal amp sim for $5. I have Westwood and Druminator from them, and they'e both awesome. So I bought this, too.

Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to pick up the free Dominator amp cabs. For all I know, they're already in the purchase, but what the heck.

'For metal". They weren't kidding. :o  Does the metel very well indeed.

Marvellous. Worth £5 easily, just for those occasions when I feel compelled to take vengeance on the reggae lads downstairs.

I'm an old rocker and I don't 'get' a lot of modern metal guitar sound. The tones mostly all just sound the same to me these days, and not in a pleasant way. Guess I'll install Dominator and fire it up to see if there's anything usable for me in it.

Also, you kids need to get off my lawn.

Watched the in-depth video. The different cabinets really make a huge difference.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Alt-click it
Or click-drag it. The two finger scroll behavior is indeed a bit annoying.

It's a shame you hate iLok so much as you're missing out on a truly exceptional compressor in Novatron.
