Had to replace a hard drive, installed win10 and then reinstalled T8. When I open an edit from the old system, the edit is empty—all I get are 8 empty tracks.
The files were from a backup—I noticed they were all read-only, so I changed them all. Still not working. Any ideas?
Reinstalled T8. Now won't open restored edits

Have you browsed the file system to see if the additional files might actually be present (i.e. the audio files, in the appropriate folders underneath? When you restored the project files, are they restored to EXACTLY the same folder names they were when they were backed up?
(the "header" files keep file pointers to the related files, so if you have restored the files to c:\musicRecovered\tracktion\project1, you'd have to repoint to the audio files underneath)
I believe projects that had been "archived" will pack them up so when unarchived, will re-establish all those links to where you unpack them.

I went back to the original disk (I had repaired it to working status) and archived all of the edits that I wanted and those did work on the new drive, though the automation curves didn't transfer with them. I'll have to remix them.
All of the recorded clips are present on the new hard drive, but hot showing up on the timeline. Linking each one individually is tedious.
I didn't lose any data, it's just not conveniently at hand now. Live and learn!
