Okay... can't read that.

The thing is, it's a good time for Mac Professionals. Apple over the past few years has given impressive development to Logic, there is the new iMac Pro and a soon to be released new Mac Pro which will be more modular and upgradable. Apple has indeed been listening to Pro requests.

No, it's really not. It still is yet to be seen if Apple are listening. So far, they have continued work on Logic and offered up an insanely impractical all-in-one computer. It's still unknown whether they've learned their lesson or not on letting the pro market rot.

What you said is not correct, but I don't believe there is any point in discussing it with you as you have negative opinion that will never let anything like facts get in the way.

And in either case, this is a Logic thread about 10.4.1...

Still on Imac late 2007, working very well (so why changing), not compatible with high sierra.
If you're happy with it, no reason.

As you like. But I'd be happy to hear what else you think Apple is doing that proves they are actively courting pros again.

And yes, this thread is about Logic, but my reply was to something you yourself said. I didn't initiate the topic of Apple's attention to pros.

The 10.4.1 update doesn’t appear in the App Store

...I assume we don’t need to install High Sierra for it, but how to do the update ? (...from 10.4.0)

It should show up in the App store, it did on my computer. I downloaded it March 3.

Showed up for me too

Saw few times now, so need to ask, why is Logic toy for audio editing? It's basic as plenty of others in that regard, but there's proper audio editors too for advanced needs.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

I’ve found a workaround in installing/updating Logic in itself from my account page, through my navigator...but it doesn’t explain to me why it didn’t appear in the App Store

Never mind though...

^ Had to do exactly the same thing on my system. Weird.

Can anyone give me an ELI5 (Explain It Like I'm Five Years Old) summary of Solo behavior in Logic Pro X especially when complex Aux bus routings are involved?
All I want is to reliably solo Aux returns so I can hear what FX busses sound like in isolation.
In Ableton all I need to do is press the "S" on the Return channel and it always does what I expect.
I know the difference between LPX Track/Region soloing and understand Solo safe, and have poked around Environment window for clues.

I'm getting some strange things happening where there is no sound coming from solo'd FX busses that have audio feeding them, but sound is visible (meters)/audible on other non-solo'd busses that don't have a yellow "S" highlight. I have searched the Apple site, LPX inbuilt help, LogicProHelp site, seen Edgar Rothermich's books. The solutions I've found are weak workarounds at best - "Flatten folder stacks" "make tracks for all mixer channels" and the like, and wondering if there's something better. Apple has redefined the meanings of (previously universally defined computer functions) like Zoom and Delete in other programs so I'm suspecting they worked the same magic on Solo.

Haven't encountered before to this degree so wondering whether it's a 10.4.1 bug/feature?

Post

I've had difficulty with this too. I got the impression that it's not a "smart solo" in Logic. It's an absolute solo. If you solo an FX bus, it literally is the only channel not muted. Is this not how actual hardware worked in the day?

I'm not an expert so I'd love to see an expert's response to this.

I find these useful (although they are quite useless for a five-year-old):
