in the middle of a project with maybe 15 tracks. some audio and a few vst's and a couple of midi tracks. all of the tracks and filters, well pretty much everything except the main tracktion window just disappeared. the track still plays like everything is there. i went through and removed all of my vst's from the plugin folder to see if there were any conflicts. no conflicts with the vst's. it's like all of the information and clips are there but i can't see them or move. sometimes with problems like this just because you can't see them doesn't mean you can't move them but it seems that way with this. unfortunately the saved edit has this problem as well, so if i open the edit it's just the same. all of my other project are fine. any help would be great. on an ibookG3/900/640MB ram, OSX 10.3.5

Did you try making a copy of the edit to see if that would be OK?
Try exporting each midi track and each audio track and import them into a newly created edit. Maybe they will show up.
I have had problems with edits going bad before. I guess the file gets corrupted.
I have started saving copies of all my projects. Everytime I make changes that I feel are important I update the saved files by copying the latest edit and the trk file. This way if something like your problem occurrs I can go back to the last saved edit.
Good luck.

i can't even get to any of the tracks to export them individualy. i was able to get all the midi to export as one track but that's all. i do have all the original audio files so i do have something to start over with. i will start saving seperate edits to try to avoid this in the future. it just sux that i will have rework all of the synths and automations to get them back though.

I don't want to leave the impression that Tracktion is prone to this problem.
I had 1 edit go bad in a project that contained a few versions of that tune.
I've had this happen in other hosts as well.
I think it is just a part of using computers.

i have probably about 20 other songs done completely with Tracktion and no problems whatsoever. it just so happens as soon as i start working with someone who is looking to get some serious work done something really dumb happens. it's not the end of the world but i would like to salvage as much as possible in the shortest amount of time possibe so i can get this project completed and get paid.

i wasn't entirely sure how to do that. i sent you another message asking exactly how to do that and how to save the files so they could be opened up again. thanx for all the attention on this.

It was a bizarre one - the vertical placement of the tracks had somehow had a maths error and ended up as an irrational number..
Easy to fix though, by opening the edit in a text editor and changing the "tracktop" value back to zero.

Using OS X, from the finder dragged the file into Word (text edit may be better) and searched for "tracktop" which is very close to the top of the text file. I changed "tracktop=nan" to "tracktop=0" (zero). Saved and all is fixed.
