Hello Jules and all Tracktion fans! :)

Here's 6 suggestions, most of them probably a piece of cake for Jules?

1)

It would be easier to select several tracks if this could be done with the alt-key (in the same way as several clips are selected) or with the shift-key like in the windows explorer.

2)

Could dragging the hollow or filled triangle while holding the control-key make the dragged clip
"eat" the next clip? If this was possibly you wouldn't have to adjust the next clip by dragging
it's hollow triange.

3)

If several clips are selected...

changing the start data in the properties panel should effect the start of all the selected clips?

changing the end data in the properties panel should effect the end of the rightmost clip in respective track? (the same thing should happen then you drag one of the rightmost clips triangle)

4)

I almost always give my tracks names based on clip-properties like clip-name, midi-channel,
program-change and so on...and the same goes for my clip-names. Is there a way to automate this? Maybe a button in the clip properties panel?

5)

The volume filter can be set to change midi note velocity. Is there a way to tie the volume filter
to midi volume change (controller 7) as well? This would be much better option than changing
controller 7 in the pianoroll.

6)
An extra option to scroll up and down with the mouse wheel without the need to move the mouse
to the side first. Alt + wheel maybe?

Since Jules is working like a dog on Tracktion II some of these suggestions might be irrelavant
soon...but anyway, what do think?

have you seen the movie Groundhog Day? It's really funny...:)

that's ModuLR's clever way of saying "go search the forum for all the 'T2 features I want' and 'when is T2 coming' loops."

Yeah, there are many wishes and suggestions on this forum. Maybe too many to read them all, and this is just another one...

Sometimes we wish for things that are hard to implement like a better timestretch algorithm, a completely new pianoroll and so on.

I just thought that maybe some of the things I mention above could be added to Tracktion without the need to write thousands of new code-lines.

(I like the movie Groundhog Day too by the way  )

I've seen the movie Groundshog Day! Wasn't it little bit mellow?

I think you can do this already.. :?:

Well, at least I haven't found a way yet.
(I'm using version 1.5.16 of Tracktion)

I'm not complaining though.
Tracktion might be missing a few features compared to the older sequencers on the market, but nothing that really bothers me.
I hope Jules keep focusing on the workflow every time new features get added, because that's what makes Tracktion such joy to use.

I'd like to add a short comment to suggestions
2) and 3) above:
The idea is to make it easier to join different parts of your song. This in turn makes it easier to tryout different versions of a verse and so on...

I'm at work atm, but Im pretty damn sure you just hold <CNTRL> to select as many tracks as you want..

i always do this when setting up subgroups (select all the tracks I want, & route them all in one go)

so Bithead = ModuLR? :?

Post

No. ModuLR had a running joke about T2 feature discussions being like the move groundhog day with Bill Murray, where the protagonist wakes up every morning and it's the same day, over and over again.

how'd my name get in this?!? :P
ModuLR / Radio
