My primary frustration with Zebra2 has always been that it does not retain the name of the preset being used in top center of the interface, nor does the preset list on the left give me an indication of which set the preset came from. I can come back to a track days or weeks later, open up the interface and have no idea what preset is loaded. This was a major frustration this week, when I needed to unistall the vst2 and replace it with the vst 3.

In hindsight, I started using a track notepad to indicate what preset was used, and what set it came from. Then if I loose the preset name in the interface, at least I know it's name and where it comes from.

Adding to this frustration is that there is no search engine inside the interface, so if I did remember what preset I used, I still have to search through a stack of needles to find it. I resorted to opening up the preset list in windows exporer and performing a search.

It really can't be this hard- so I must be missing something. Any help greatly appreciated.

Why does Zebra2 not retain the preset name in the top center? Is the preset name displayed somewhere else in the interface, is there a search feature I am not aware of?

You shouldn't have uninstalled VST2. You cannot MIDI learn in VST3... Keep both around.

BTW the new Z2 beta does have search in the interface. And favorites. And searching by author.

You're probably just missing an up to date version. :)

The VST2 plugin will retain the name of the patch in the display at the top.

We re-designed our entire patch browsing system, the beta of Zebra2 v2.8 has a search box for patches.

Thanks for the help both of you. That helps a lot. Actually I do have the latest version of the plugin- I am notorious for staying up to date on these things. I realize I said, I uninstalled it, which is incorrect, what I meant to say was I replaced the VST 2 with the VST 3 inside Studio one, replacing the instrument. the VST 2 is still installed. My bad.

I had some trouble with the beta earlier. Maybe I did it wrong, but I installed it replacing 2.7 (maybe should not have done that). After doing so, I loaded up a session with several Zebra 2 instances, and Studio One 3 would not play the midi, then after clicking around a bit, it said the instrument was not installed. Further tinkering just made studio one lock up.
