hi i am getting MPC software 2.0 it's basically a simple DAW. it can host 3rd party VSTs. I tried the MPC live and the effects that came with it are not good, and a bit "dirty"
i will be using external synth for the sounds, so i just need a good clutch of effect VSTs to start me off. free hopefully (if the quality is there) but also definitely mention paid for VSTs if the price isn't ridiculous and it offers good value.
so i need the usual suspects: reverb, delay, something to boost sound quality e.g. fruity soundgoodizer - not sure if that's a limiter or compressor (or even what the difference is), a shimmer (any alternatives to the valhalla?) and whatever you you consider essential.
i'm not into distortion/overdrive type effects.
there was a nice filter effect that was on the MPC live, i put it onto drums and it would sort of LFO in and out, i would like something like that also.
i have heard of fab filter, what is that exactly?
i am particularly interested in VSTs with good inventive presets/features.
hope that wasn't too much.. any thoughts?
thanks

Reverb (free): OrilRiver, Riviera (inventive), Cloud Seed (can do shimmerlike sort of)
Reverb (paid, not Valhalla, $50): Audiority XenoVerb (has shimmer)
Delay (free): ReaDelay (infinite taps), Spaceship Delay (inventive)
Soundgooderizer (free): xFer OTT (it's a multiband compressor/expander)
IL Soundgooderizer is a multiband compressor/maximizer.
FabFilter is a company with many products. Their plugins are highly visually-oriented and the workflow is generally very fast, and the sound is generally very good.
If you want plugins with inventive features, check out Unfiltered Audio's stuff.

I'll tell you all the good ones I use in my mixes, and all of them are free:

Compressor: TDR Kotelnikov, Vlad G Molot, Dead Duck Compressor and Channel 1/2, Klanghelm MJUCjr and DCIA2, Sonic Anomaly S.L.A.X., Audio Tools Leveling Tool and ReaComp.

Limiter: Sonic Anomaly Unlimited, Vlad G Limiter No 6 and Loudmax.
Reverb: FreeVerb 3 pack, OrilRiver, Sanford Reverb and Voxengo OldSkoolVerb.

Chorus: Acon Digital Multiply and TAL Chorus-LX.
Gain: Blue Cat Audio Gain Suite and Airwindows PurestGain.
Meters: YouLean Loudness Meter and Voxengo SPAN.
Others: Airwindows NotJustAnotherDither (too good to mix/master without it).

I still use them, Just normally theres a backlash from Snowflakes when hes mentioned. Im sure the OP would be interested in the dark/horrific back story.Halonmusic wrote:What he did was terrible but why stop using his plugins because of what he did?VariKusBrainZ wrote:Whos turn is it to get the popcorn?layzer wrote:Kjearhus classic effects (x32)
