Help please?

2011 Macbook Pro
macOS Sierra
8 GB RAM

MuLab 7
Focusrite 2i2 interface

Everything works fine except that CPU usage spikes like crazy when I have the 2i2 plugged in... even if i'm just listening and not even recording. Help please?
