Will bitwig ever be SNAPPY and fast?

Does anyone know if the Retina problems are Mac only or if it's under Windows as well? It might inform my decision as to whether to go for a Mac Book Pro or Surface Book 2.

It's said to work better in Windows (and best yet in Linux). I run Bitwig on Surface Pro 4 i7 and it's fine, although my projects aren't very heavy so YMMV.

BTW, if I was in a market for new laptop right now, I'd wait for i9 models like this one:

No, it is the same on Windows and macOS, it basically depends on the amount of pixels that are displayed.

The Surface Pro 4 has a resolution of 2736x1824, 4K has significantly more pixels, 3840 x 2160. If I switch my resolution to 2736x1824, it would work ok-ish.

Well I have these issues when holding and dragging the whole arrangement to duplicate it. It's very slow. Really takes up to a minute to move the whole arrangement around. Using Bitwig on Linux.

I hope they fix this by 2.5... I imagine getting loads of our CPU resources back will be big reason for people to pay for their next 12 months.

I am running a second copy of BWS on my Surface i5 and it runs just fine, I am running UHE, Falcon and a soundtoys and can get a lot done on the road. The 'Surface Mode' part of BWS is often overlooked and I don't think anyone other DAW comes close, particular with the built in MPE style keyboards.

That's what I'm thinking too. More than a year? Nah. Probably couple of very long months for many users though. It might even come with 2.4. After all, letting users know that this problem is being worked on just for tease but not give us fix for a year does not sound like a good strategy for Bitwig and they know that already. Soon hundreds of users will have to decide if they want to renew their licence or not and most of them will only do so if they get something worth paying 169$ for, like being able to use the program for what it is intended to for instance.

This is not some bug, this is major reason why alot of users migrate back from Bitwig, after realizing Bitwig is beyond most other DAWS in terms of workflow and functionality, but they are unable to work on average or big projects like serious producers. I'm hoping 3-6 months and this problem will be in the past.

A little patience will be huge reward in matter of weeks/months.

"+ flexible bounce-in-place: not only you can bounce-in-place instrument (+ all nested effects) on a track or group of tracks, but you can do the same on Sends or Master, thus making Live's 'resample' feature much easier & quicker to use - just make a time selection, right-click, choose "bounce in place" and audio clip will be created, that you can manipulate, add effects, etc. making for example global effects very easy,"

I meant Bitwig's equivalent of Live's resample

I'm now getting back to Live because I bought Push2, but it's so clunky in comparison - so many small things missing or annoying details working wrong...

A fluid interface is "basics" for me to work with.... and Bitwig doesn't have it

I just will wait some versions more.... but after migrating old Ableton projects to Bitwig (manually) I was like "wtf.... Bitwig is really really laggy"
