These are very different instruments. Very difficult, if not impossible, to compare. The Paths instruments are more current and have a more polished look and feel imho. But they are all very good.

The problem with PA's new deals for me is the pricing structure. As a home hobbyist who makes no money off recording, and sits down to record maybe once a month, their new pricing strategy doesn't appeal.

With the $25 vouchers, the $29 plugins are almost always no-brainers. I don't think twice about throwing $4 at a plugin, even if I don't think I will use it, because hey, it's $4!

The thing is, the next price they offer plugins for tends to be $49. Throwing $24 at a plugin makes me hesitate long enough that I generally won't buy.

I'd love to see them try pricing plugins at $35 or $39, just to try and find that price where the $4 plugin buyers will still bite, but where they pocket more than $4 per purchase.

A home hobbyist who makes no money off recording, and sits down to record maybe once a month, has everything they need between their DAW, developers who sell great quality plugs at low prices, and a huge availability of fantastic, free plugins

As a home hobbyist with a really bad GAS problem who makes no money off of recording, I agree with Toffo. Yes, my DAW provides everything... but inspiration. Most of the stuff I get, I probably will use once. But if it gets me inspired to make something, I am happy. And since I don't use a lot of it, I at least like to get it when it is cheap. :D

Although, when I think about it, I have a SAS problem - software acquisition syndrome.

A copy of Oblique Strategies is a helluva lot cheaper in the long run.

Interesting direction to include the Maschine libraries. Includes Kontakt 6 though so it is a required upgrade.

Interesting, what is Massive X?

I see Arturia offer for V6 collection for 199$ from scratch, and in the same time upgrade from v5 for 199$, fun.
