None yet, but it's very early days for something with the scope this seems to have. I bought it to roll my sleeves up and dig into the deeper sound design side of it.mgw38 wrote:Any regrets?OneOfManyPauls wrote:I bought it in the end. I'm on the fence but even with the discount this is still a bit of an investment.
yeah, I like what I'm hearing so far. It's certainly different to omni 2 (which didn't float my boat as much as I'd hoped it would when I bought it).epiphaneia wrote:... are you basically happy with the sound it produces, so far? in some ways the experience reminds me of when I first played with synplant - especially when just hitting random waves/parameters.
I can certainly see it being a love/hate thing though, so I would make sure you like the sound from the demo vids given Spitfire's no demo/no refund policy.

a "less plastic-ky synplant" (a plugin the sonic character of which I never got used to as much as I wanted to like it for the concept behind it...) would be a pretty good reference.OneOfManyPauls wrote:in some ways the experience reminds me of when I first played with synplant - especially when just hitting random waves/parameters.

I do also like what I hear in the demo videos on youtube, I´m just regularly afraid that the 10 good sounds one hears in the demo are the /only/ good sounds possible with that thing, I fell into this trap all too often.
Is the CPU usage low enough to actually use the plugin in a track "live" or will it require a lot of track-freezing, in your experience? I´m worried about the plenty of convolution going on... and I /detest/ track-freezing...

CPU depends on the patch - each source/convolver counts as a voice, so 7 voices per note if everything is in play, at which point it can get into the higher end of cpu usage. eg a 3 note chord with everything used is getting me to around 40% CPU on a 3.2Ghz quad-core i5.
That said, there are some really nice patches that don't use everything and are pretty light on cpu.

Thanks! I guess I´ll bite too, at 40% off...

I have Phobos. It's a niche library. Just be sure you need that type of sound and that you will use it. If it's what you need, go ahead, you will have fun with it.
If you want more diversity, you might want to look elsewhere. For example, I also have Cinemorphx, which is currently on sale at 149$, and there's a lot of sounds and diversity. There's more sounds morphing together than Phobos.

That´s a good point (I do own quite a bunch of Sample Logic libraries though... they all sound sort of pretty-good-but-samey to me somehow), would you say that, despite the narrow focus, Phobos sounds *very different* than, e.g., CinemorphX?Feelshallright wrote:I have Phobos. Does the convolution add a lot of character or is it basically a sales-gimmick on top of a BT sample library?

Galaxy X is another alternative. We gave away Galaxy X-FX as a free add-on last Christmas so I imagine there’s a lot of people here who can weigh in about it.

They do have one of the most confusing upgrade/crossgrade options. Mostly its because of the "Advanced" crossgrade option, where you can have a different price by owning any Advanced product. To add to it, they have their bundles which for many of us, contain most or close to all the products in the bundle.MFXxx wrote:Let's hope so Ozone8 n20 launch was a bloody mess and confusing as hell, nearly purchase the wrong pack twice. Was like a "fiddlers market stall"!Uncle E wrote:I do get your point and have wondered that myself. With VocalSynth 2 being a new product, I imagine they might not want to create a bunch of new Crossgrade SKU’s for VocalSynth 1. However, with the current Ozone Upgrade sale, that’s definitely not the issue and they have limited it much more than usual. I assume their marketing team is trying to simplify things by not offering too many options but I think they might be underestimating customers’ abilities to figure it out. I’ll talk to them about it.
I don't know... I don't even have a solution because on 1 side, its nice to have all the different options to qualify for a discount, but on the other hand it makes it confusing by deciding if a bundle makes sense.
I do prefer the bundles because its easier to deal with, but I just don't want to have to deal with selling my redundant licenses.
But to stay a bit focused (if possible)... it would be nice to see the Advanced upgrade paths not be more expensive than the elements upgrades. This part I don't think would be confusing... If Ozone or Ozone upgrades are on sale, then its not confusing if they are all on sale (or at least adjusted to a point that makes sense).

Too late - I already own 98 % of their products. You maybe can leave expesive investments unused, I can't afford it.masterhiggins wrote:If you don't like them, don't support them. Pretty simple.
