Anyone interested in doing some bench mark tests with their laptops?

I'm trying to discover if my machine is in full working health, so a few comparisons would be useful.

To test I suggest using the sample song called Tesseract that comes with Tracktion, then say what the Tracktion green cpu meter is doing and also what Taskmanager CPU usage is doing.

My results:

[using built-in sound card while playin the song]

-Traction CPU : 20-25% fluctates alot
-Task Manager : 30-40% fluctuates alot

Any comparisions would be most appreciated.

Maybe look at what Computer Music is doing when comparing machines, they count how many instances of Triangle and Ambiance (not together) can be used on the same time, among other things. I think good results are 12-15 Triangle or 5 Ambiance

If I use ambience, one for each track, with no audio on the track, with ambience left as the default preset I can get 7 instances before it shuts down.

I get 60-85% in task manager on my 800MHz, 256MB P3, Win 2000 portable using the built in audio card.

Looks like proportional to CPU speed.

I get similar with my old IBM T23 (which can handle 2 instances of ambience)

I was hovering between 50-60% in task manager running a P4-2.4g desktop, w/1g of ram. So, I'd say you're doing pretty good with what you have.

Thats good to know.
