Do different versions of Melda plugins overwrite each other?

I'm still using some older versions of Melda as some of the newer versions have new names and different compatibility. Is there any way to keep the old versions and install the latest along side it? I have lots and lots of projects that I might be called upon to go back to that use the older plugins, but I'd also like to check out the newer stuff. Whadya think?

I'm talking about keeping my old v10.x luging alongside the latest and greatest for compatibility. I remember Melda saying they were going to break some compatibility in the jump to 11.

I'd strongly recommend ditching the old stuff entirely. Most plugins use plugin IDs (some identifier inside the plugin) to make sure the same plugin stays the same. So after V11 release the problems were actually minimal - pretty much all major DAWs recall the plugins without problems. Anyways check the release notes:

I'd grab the V12 installer and let it perform plugin cleanup, just in case. Your host may need a restart or something (especially if you are on the OSX High Sierra junk), but then it should be fine. Backup your project before of course. It's sad how most people do not backup their precious data...

I've been finding that I can install new versions of the betas without having to restart under High Sierra. But going from v10 or 11 to v12, it might be a good idea to restart or log out and back in.

Really? It depends on the host though. I found that Logic is the most problematic host, which is rather a disgrace for Apple... High sierra is indeed one of the biggest debakels of recent years

There were a few problems with High Sierra at first, but AFAIK the only two that remain are to do with some preset lists being out of order on SSD drives due to the file sorting on the newer Apple File System, and the plugin issue mentioned above. But it's not a consistent issue -- that's what I don't understand. It's crazy that they haven't fixed it but maybe it's a change they expect developers to work around. There is a way to make sure installers force Logic to see the update.

No idea there. From what I checked Apple dev community says Apple needs to fix that... so far it looks like that. But it actually doesn't seem to lie inside Logic, but inside the OSX AU core... No idea there. Anyways since I updated to High sierra, everything is slow and buggy... ugh...

I did a cleanup and a new install of the v12 on my windows machine. No problems so far. I'm having fun with the new spectral delay. Unfortunately the default blank patch has an odd curve in the level section that makes things confusing at first. I got it sorted out but it took a while to figure out why the delays were all sounding distorted.MeldaProduction wrote:I'd strongly recommend ditching the old stuff entirely.
