Europa is working in Cubase 7.07 in Windows 7 64 bit. Also in 8.5. 9.04 and 9.5x. on my machine.

Same situation here...
So then the demo either must be 32 bit or it's 64 bit gone terribly wrong. Because the only plugs the new Cubase blacklists are those that are 32 bit.

I see this as good for props, terrible for Reason users.

Good for props as they will likely continue down their preferred road of making devices.

Poor Reason DAW... just can't get any love can you?

Personally I can't imagine anyone purchasing $100 for Europa, I have it now for free on my R lite and its Meh-ville. Expanse or Serum if you really want that sort of stuff.

They'd have better luck with Grain and I'm sure that will be next.

This isn't progress for Propellerhead, its necessary unless they plan on genuinely improving their DAW. Time will tell, I got the popcorn out and won't be affected either way.

In the Cubase 9.5 (OS X) plugin manager, it shows it blacklisted as 64 bits. It would appear something's wrong with the 64 bit version. I submitted a support ticket.

I believe this is a good move for Propellerhead since this opens up a wider market for their products and by that more revenue. What is good for Propellerhead is also good for it's users. I am not saying that Propellerhead have financial problems because I believe they are solid enough, but a bankrupt company is not good for anyone.

Europa is a lovely synth (as is Thor and even Subtractor).

Props' devices tend to sound really, really clean & unaffected. Easy to mistake that for a lack of quality but it is just a strategy of leaving final sound up to the user.

Add a bit of wobbly, grungey and rolloffy to taste and you are dandy.

:)

(Yes, Thor is a fantastic synth!)

Can confirm I have Europa working as intended in Cubase 9.5.0 (guess I have to update Cubase tho, lol) on Windows 10

The world, quite frankly, doesn't need another wavetable synth like the Reason rack needed one prior to version 10, but here it is. This is a good, solid synth that is intuitive to program and work with, has some nice features and waveshaping options, and sounds great. I don't know if I would drop 150 bucks on it, but similarly, I haven't seen the need to drop any money on Serum or Sylenth either. I would definitely say that if you can't tell the difference in sound quality between this and Reason's older synths, you might not be someone who should be making critical listening decisions in a studio, IMO.

and anyway the web demo is fantastic, try for yourself! nice way to demo a softsynth.

bring on Grain.

Uhh, I'm surprised that I mainly got negative feedback with the licensing issues. :o

I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I really hoped this could have been the general solution/answer. Now I have no clue why it worked on my side. Only differences I can think of:

a) my user is not the default admin, but an additional account on my Mac provided with admin rights.
b) the restart in combination with the user

But this is only speculation. Hope, Props will things get sorted for you.

Thanks for trying to help Crossinger, hopefully you're right and Props get it sorted quickly.

I think you guys are wrong. I don't think they even want to sell it. I don't even think that their intension is to sell it other than using it as a flyer advertisement tool. First of all, while you have plenty of choice specially having Waves is selling codex for 20 bucks they perfectly know that no body is going to buy unless he or she is a fool. IMHO their motive is to bring Reason name "awareness" in every DAW. Look it doesn't even say Europa by Propellerhead. It is Europa by Reason and keep in mind the power of repetitive word unconsciously it will register on subconscious mind and it is very effective advertisement if you ask me. Open this plugin in Studio One and everywhere there is the word Reason in the sequencer, mixer you name it. Europa by Reason, Europa by Reason, Europa By Reason. You see? how many times did you read the word Reason even on trial period. :hihi:

Ok, but you wouldn't really compare a raw waveform in a synth comparison, would you? I mean, if you took a raw saw, square, sine, or triangle waveform, and compare it in bog standard VA synth, they would sound the same as well. Compare unison. Compare the filters, compare the envelopes. And compare the drive. Then you will see vast differences.

It would really be surprising when they already differed vastly on oscillator level. That would be the minimal requirement i'd have on a wavetable synth, that it doesn't alreajdy Colour the wavetables much. I still think synths have their own sound engine though. After all, some have more beef than others, so, there's got to be some messing with frequencies going on, which means that they DO Colour the sound, even of the raw oscillators.
There are differences though. Expanse (and Serum) have greater detail than Europa when set to HQ. I did a simple comparison between Europa and Expanse:

https://forum.reasontalk.com/viewtopic. ... 44#p392144

And that is just comparing two basic waveforms with filter disabled on both. Then of course there are the aforementioned differences such as filters and effects, etc.

I might be biased because of my involvement with eXpanse but I do believe it has the edge over Europa fidelity wise, but at the cost of performance (but with the option to "downgrade" to save CPU).

I don't know sh!t about synth programming, but in my opinion better fidelity is not always equal to better sound. Serum is known for having high fidelity and it is very good for certain kinds of sounds but in the mix it needs to be contrasted by "warmer" sounding synths. E.g., it works really will together with Sylenth, which I don't think is a good example of "fidelity" but sounds rich and warm.

So far I've only played with that browser thing in my office. I don't have very good headphones here but my first impressions it that it indeed sounds sort of lo-fi, which may be bad or good thing, depending on what you are after.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

+1
I absolutely agree

Well, I don't want to look behind the scenes and analyse Propellehead's startegy, because I don't think it is that complex as the music tools market share not as big as the Games or Office/Business markets for example. I believe mostly it is a direct strategy. So, my guess if the Europa VST/AU makes a good success, then Propellerhead would think of repeating this. Simple as that! "Follow the money" is a good general strategy not only in FBI investigations :hihi:

There are some strange things I found, not sure if it is by design or not:
1. No right click menu. How do I midi learn? It is not VST3 right? In the RE format, I right click and assign to a controller in my midi keyboard/controller. How to do that in the VST version?

2. CV inputs/output in the modulation matrix. Are there a use of that in the VST version? They are very useful of course in the RE format so I connect to/from the parts of Europa with other RE devices, but here?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.
