Hi Mr M and folks,

I'd like to suggest a new mode for the mod. envelope "action on" field.

It would be like the opposite of legato mode ("Start single"). Let's call it "Legato only" mode.

It would work like this: when a staccato note is pressed, the envelope DOESN'T trigger, and it will only trigger when the next legato note is played. And again if another legato note comes. If all notes are staccato, then the envelope doesn't trigger at all.

This would be really useful for creating patches that have different modulation happening on legato or staccato notes. I don't think i ever saw a softsynth that had this feature!

Hey Mr D,

I'm afraid I just don't really understand - you mean that if you hold a note and another one is pressed, it will be ignored?

Hi mate,

Nope, i mean the opposite!

If no note is pressed, then you press a note (so, a staccato note), it will be ignored by the envelope.

But if you press a note and hold, then press a new note, the new note will trigger the envelope.

And if you press another note (while still holding down either of the first two), that will also trigger.

So, staccato notes DON'T trigger, legato notes DO trigger.

This would be interesting for many types of sound. For example, funky basslines where you only want the attack on a staccato note to trigger the filter envelope, but any subsequent legato notes can modulate the sound in some other interesting way.

I can already hear it in my head, it would be cool.

You might also want to add this sort of control over portamento. So a staccato notes doesn't cause portamento , but a legato legato does.

Hmmm, ok, interesting, I'll think about it.
