Compressor and eq .. not going to be the difference in your track.

Hmm, I must have written this on my iphone. I was trying to say the eq and compressor FX included in Komplete 11 are not going to make the difference in your track, compared to what your DAW already includes or freeware like Kotelnikov and Slick EQ.

Well, since I have The Legend, Monark gets no use from me. But if you were coming from nothing, well yeah it's a pretty nice monosynth.

You couldn't be more wrong, but... whatever floats your boat. :P

I've definitely been more wrong about many things than this :)

Everything is uber-dated. Windows and fonts are tiny. Got a HD or 4k display? Go away. It's so tiny, it's like from the 90's. Forget about all the FX-Plugins. There's better freeware.

Reaktor 6 is a nightmare in terms of usability. I own and use a handful of it's competitors - each one is great. Quote Deadmouse "I'll probably use it for some sh*t.. [quits Reaktor 6 about 90minutes after buying & trying]".

In my eyes this packages is a scam. It's like 10 years old stuff, relabeled over and over again up till Quote "Version" 11.

Battery - what are you supposed to do with it? There's no way of mapping samples in a convenient way, other than fiddling with the microscopic controls of each individual sample. That's right, you cannot map samples just over a virtual keyboard like you can in even freeware samplers. You have to assign a Midi note individually. A joke.

Guitar Rig is just as old - it was one of my reasons to buy it. But this thing has not developed at all in like 20(?) years.

There's not a single thing in this package that I would ever pay for again, not even a dollar. Even Komplete Select gives you a better package with Massive and a few cool Reaktor-Player Instruments like Monark.

Now I can't resell it or I will lose Komplete Select as well. So much regret. Never again, NI.
I think your assessment is a little harsh but I get where you're coming from.
I've lusted after Komplete for years (over a decade to be honest) and with the current sale I was finally going to pull the trigger when I realized, I just don't need it. Like most, I already have tools that cover all of the terrain in Komplete and as enticing as some of the offerings are, I just don't think it's worth it for me. I recently upgraded to Reason 10 and I also picked up Synapse the Legend. So that has scratched the itch for me. I'm still interested in picking up some of the individual pieces if I can get the cheap enough but the bundle just doesn't have the allure it once held for me.

Ok, that's a different look. I use two EQs, Frequency which is part of Cubase 9 and above and Nuendo 8, and VSL Vienna Suite Master EQ. Kotelnikov is a good one, but I haven't needed it.
They both make a gigantic difference here. Let's just agree to disagree about Monark.
Me being a long-time user of a Minimoog notwithstanding. ;)

I will say I don't understand all of the hate I see for guitar rig around here (maybe hate is a strong word but you get the idea).
I used to use guitar rig 3 le in sonar years ago and I remember liking it quite a bit, but from things I've read around here I figured I would be disappointed when I returned to some of those old projects. Well I recently went through all my old stuff to archive it and everytime I came across a guitar tone that I really liked and I thought surely I must have used a real amp, I would look and there was guitar rig.
It's mostly its clean tones that I like I think. I usually use pedals for heavier stuff.
I don't know maybe I'm just weird.

I think the hate mostly comes from people trying to get face melting metal tones, which it just isn't the best tool, although Rammfire is decent.

The thing with Guitar Rig is one probably needs a suitable pre-amp coming in, ie., enough signal to drive it properly.

Even so, I have a far easier time with IKMM Amplitube.

But, GR has some, for me, killer FX and stomps.

As to Komplete as a bundle, it will have been much smarter for me to have bought it if I started later than I did, but by the time it was more affordable I had picked up too many things in it separately to ever feel any strong need.

So what I'll be weighing really is R. Razor, R. Prism, Form, the Softube compressors and Transient Master worth putting $200 down right now. Well, + upgrade to GR 5 (fr. 4), which I never bought.
More like starting out that would be these + Kontakt 5, Reaktor 6, R. Spark, Monark, Skanner, Absynth 5, Kontour, Vintage Organs, and Replika XT. Which is an insane deal from my perspective.

I didn't think much of Guitar Rig in the beginning, until I started running the MusicLabs guitars through it.

As much as I liked Amplitude, it just refused to work on my Lenovo server class systems. Really enjoyed Revalver until they went to the "make your input device your dongle" which always makes the USB port stop working correctly until I reformat.

Guitar Rig gives me more "instant gratification". Especially in the cleaner sounds.

Would really love to replace it with something from another company that works as good or better and without the equally idiotic support schemes and marketing agendas.

GR & K5 are the two products they have that still have a hook on me. And I think much of K5 has more to do with the NFR libraries still locked into my account.

NI is another something that I've become 'sick & tired' of. And Access has been its death nell.

But an upgrade for couple of Benji's...

My main issue with Guitar Rig - and I use it semi-regularly - is that it takes a while to load, it's a bit of a chore to set up your own sounds (IMO) and too many of the presets are in the showy demo sound category. I tend to load it up when I know there will be a preset in the rough ballpark of what I'm looking for, so I can tweak that as a basis.

If all I want is a particular run-of-the-mill sound that I can easily get elsewhere, it doesn't seem worth the hassle. GR just isn't very immediate.
