I have literally just purchased this from a reliable person on here. I will be using Cubase as my main DAW still but there are some things I would like to learn in Ableton which are simply impossible to do elsewhere.
I think I have quite a bit learning curve ahead, this is going to be a long term project.

It is actually worse than that. I did not have it before and now the bug showed up out of nowhere. I was working on a project that was pushing the limits of the audio setup a bit. The update happened completely invisible in the background right after a very violent crash, so naturally I assumed it was the crash that corrupted some audio drivers. After I could not fix the audio problem I decided to do a full OS reinstall only to find out later that is was actually the Ableton update that caused the issue. Took me almost 4 days to get all my licenses back to full working order.aMUSEd wrote:aupreset bug not fixed

zero issues here - Suite, WIN10, Tascam u7000
. . . but then again, I've had zero issues with LIVE performance since v.6 . . .
I asked my car mechanic once(I was considering a new car at the time) what brand he would recommend. He said, "don't ask me, I only see the broken ones". I think that's the case with software issues as well. You only hear of the 1 in 100(for ex.) who are having/have had trouble
peace

After a quick internet search, found out the issues I was having with screen lag was easily fixed by just trashing the config file in Ableton 10.0.2, although did have to rescan plugs and have to set up devices again but at least it's working fine now.

So true, for everything. And, people looking on the net will see the gazillions of issues people assumedly have with the software, thus think the software is full of issues.Mister Natural wrote: I asked my car mechanic once(I was considering a new car at the time) what brand he would recommend. Unrelated to this thread, of the issues described.

If this was a corner case, I would agree. But it's not a corner case. All the people happy with this build are Windows users. If you were on a Mac, you would not be so cavalier about it because almost every Mac user is affected. You can't change a f*ing preset in most AU plugins without Ableton crashing.Mister Natural wrote:I asked my car mechanic once(I was considering a new car at the time) what brand he would recommend. That's not a minor bug. That's a showstopper. They prioritized an annoying bug over a breaking bug. To me it says that Ableton views Mac users as second-class citizens.

The main issue here is that they pushed an update that they knew would break some systems through their update system which updates Ableton in the background without notifying the user that an update has happened. The system just stopped working out of nowhere.Mister Natural wrote:. . . not being "cavalier" - I understand that there exists some users frustrated but(my sole & humble point is) there are many, many that aren't

If you have an update that you know is going to break systems, even if it is only for a few of your customers, you give advance notice.
I'm a big fan of Ableton Live and that is not going to change, but this was surprisingly unprofessional.

Yeah totally agreed, they should've released the download link for 10.0.2 for us Windows users and held off the Mac build till it was fixed. Totally understandable to have these kinda 'game-breaking' bugs in the beta builds but for a proper point release knowing there's such an issue does seem a little out of character for them.mgw38 wrote:The main issue here is that they pushed an update that they knew would break some systems through their update system which updates Ableton in the background without notifying the user that an update has happened. If you have a Mac & use AU plugins.....like my good self.....AVOID updating to 10.0.2. Just don't do it! I utterly love Ableton Live & I was as happy as a happy person in happy land when Live 10.0.1 came out.....it was really stable & I was just loving using Live 10 on my Mac. Then I made the mistake of updating to 10.0.2 last Friday & had the weekend from hell as Live 10.0.2 crashed & crashed & crashed. Downgraded to 10.0.1 & then had the fun of experiencing auto update.....seriously was not happy! I just don't get it....my confidence in Ableton Live was rock solid until this fiasco. Now I am thinking can I trust Ableton Live as a DAW going forward? I have BitWig, Reason, Reaper & Logic Pro but I always prefer using Live.......so for heaven's sake don't release a version of the software with a known bug that is going to disrupt severely a number of its users. I am no developer, just a user but from what I have read it seems that Ableton decided that fixing the drag & drop issue would generate less complaints than the Mac/AU crashing issue? Sorry if that's an over-simplification but that's how it came across? And don't get me wrong I love, love, love Ableton.....but this was just like....why do that? Pushing out the Windows update & then waiting for the Mac version to become stable seems a much better way to proceed....surely?
