Tracktion breaks ST2 plugin authorization

I was loading ST2 in a Tracktion project last night and went to load in a patch that I have used many times in the past. I waited one minute, two minutes and the hourglass stayed on. Tracktion froze so that I could not even use Ctrl-Alt-del to bring up the Task manager. I was forced to hard reboot - unheard of in this age. I have a Carillon AC1 WinXP Pro P 4 with 1 GB RDRAM 800. The kicker is when I restarted my machine it went though a disc scan which indicated that my ST2 ini setting were not valid and were then truncated! This caused my ST2 Authorization to be lost and I was forced to uninstall and reinstall/authorize my ST2 plugin. Very annoying and inconvenient. Has anyone had this happen?

ST2 work flawlessly in FLS Producer, Live 4.1 and Sonar 3.1.1. I cannot understand why this host is so problematic. I certainly won't be using Tracktion until this bug is cleared up.

Tracktion froze several times for me since the last update..... and I can't even use ST2 anymore..... but I have not had the time to look into it yet.....

Hey Alex! Thanks for the concordance. I thought I was gonna lose it!

Tracktion has also frozen many times for me since the last update, requiring total reboot. This has also happened with previous builds, and was talked about on the forum around the release of RF's.

ST2LE has not caused me any problems yet.

I wrote to Jules, he said it was not possible for Tracktion to freeze of its own accord unless RTPM was on. I don't use this mode, but it is a known problem using RTPM and Sampletank in Tracktion.

For me the problem was solved: disable "Use Realtime Priority"! in the settings.

Yes this was something I knew to do a while back. My problem is something new. Alex has confirmed it.

But for an app to lock up, it has to be in realtime mode - there's just no other way it can override the rest of the system.

Maybe ST2 itself puts the process into realtime mode? You can find this out by using task manager to look at the process priority..

Hey Jules! Thanks for responding. I was going to do just that, but my Carillon froze and I could not even open Task Manager. My PC has never froze like this before. So, I am actually reluctant to try this again. If you have any suggestions on another way to address this I would appreciate it.

Best,
Gordon

I meant you should look at task manager before it freezes! Obviously you're not going to get much chance afterwards!

Right OK I will do that. Btw what precisely should I be looking for?

Post

I mean how do I tell using TM what process priority state Tracktion is in?

Post

Anyone? Where do I look up this kind of stuff?

Post

Is it this?

Hey Pough I think that's it. So I right click on a process to see waht mode it's in. I will swallow a strong shot of red wine and give it I try tonight. Ouchies. I hope it is worth it. I will post my findings then.

OK tried it again. It works fine Seems that it was in RTP mode. . I turned it off nd SAT2 is now kosher. Phew!
