Hi, Got an email with the Newsletter special..25% off most things.
Thanks for that.

My question however is :
Change of currency in our shop

June 18, 2018

On July 2nd 2018 we will be switching the reference currency in our online shop from USD to EUR* and all prices will appear tax-inclusive. For instance, what is currently "129$ + applicable taxes" will simply appear as "129€". This is the total price for everyone, whether tax is included or not.

The vast majority of our customers needs to pay VAT or GST anyway.
For most of you around the world, our stuff will get slightly cheaper (we reckon 5% on average)
. For others it will become slightly more expensive (5-15%, depending on how much or how little VAT you paid before). Check out our Newsletter Special to help with the transition."
I don't quite follow how it would be cheaper.
for instance I pay in US and pay no additional tax.
129 euros is around $149US......
won't my price therefore go up?

Yes, the price would go up.

However, many places in the US pay tax recently, commonly between 5% and 7% IIRC. Those taxes will now be included, hence it goes up by less than those 15%. But if you do not need to pay taxes, it'll be 15%, indeed.

In Germany however, VAT is 19%. So with going up 15% in gross, then including 19%, prices go down about 4% in Germany.

Everything of course also depends on the currency exchange rate. We think this is a good point of time to do this.

Got ya.
Afaik re: US you pay taxes if there is a retail store of seller in that state, I could be wrong.

It's simple really.

Those outside the EU will simply pay the VAT instead of those inside the EU. Then we will all be happy, right?

Urs, you make fantastic instruments, and I am generally a big fan, but this... can't get behind it, sorry. I can imagine the paperwork of trying to manage 500 different tax jusisdictions and so on must be intense, but to end up charging now 16 percent extra to a large number of customers... cant see how this helps anyone at all outside the EU

The decision wasn't made lightly. Out of all optons, this seems to be the lesser evil.

So to make it clear, if im from europe and i want to buy UHE product it doesnt change anything if i do before july 2nd or after ? :)

I don't like it, but I get it.

Unfortunately much over here is already going to become more expensive. I'm trying really hard not say anything that belongs in HP, but I'm hoping for a positive change soon.

Sad to see the products become more expensive for us, but again I get it. Good thing you guys make great instruments and effects.

I believe the difference (for EU buyers) is that if you buy now (before July 2nd) you will pay additional fees for VAT. After July 2nd, the price will become cheaper because VAT is now "inclusive" in the price. Pay what you see.

In Germany you'll save around 4% after the switch, compared to last week when we checked the USD <-> EUR conversion rate.

Yeah, can’t see myself purchasing any more plugins if I’m paying a tax I’m not legally obliged to pay. Sorry.

You'd save about 6% then.
