I got many high quality plugins such as u-he Satin (tape, delay, modulation), u-he Presswerk (compressor), PSP Xenon (limiter), 2caudio Breeze 2 (reverb), NI Komplete 11...
Thoughts?
I have Mercury because, over the years, it was cheaper to upgrade than pay the WUP. Not that I neeeded to WUP. That said, except for a few CLA plug-ins that I like but don't need (could do the same with separate plugs), I think most of what I use is in Gold.

On another note, I have very few problems with Waves plug-ins. They do the job and rarely crash my projects. I haven't had to WUP since version 9 came out and ProTools went AAX, though I do when they add enough new stuff to my bundle. I am on a PC, I am not sure a Mac user will state the same.

The price is great though.

I would prefer Mercury to Horizon. Many of the so-called Signature plugins are part of Mercury. Otherwise, if you just want the Waves classic plugins, Gold should indeed do nicely, as dzilizzi said.

Thanks guys.
However, I'm especially concerned with the value of classic Waves plugins. I've seen them being used in the studio years ago (Renaissance Comp, L1-L2), but I wonder with the more recent plugins that I own now (list in my post above), are they still worth it? Or is it just a "standard" due to their popularity for many years? I mean, I don't need to exchange projects with studios, so I don't need to adhere to any standard.

In addition to those classic ones, the Horizon bundle offers basically the CLA compressors/limiters and some other modeled devices (PuigTec EQs), which are nice.
Mercury is way out of my budget... I might rather buy a couple of Abbey Road plugins for 29 USD in addition to Horizon.

Alternatively to Horizon, for the same price I could upgrade to Komplete Ultimate which brings (among many others) the (Softube) vintage compressors, eqs and reverb (Lexicon models).

I don't think the JJP plugins are part of Horizon.

Some of the classic plugins remain my go-to plugins even though I have a loooong list of plugins on my system. In particular H-Delay, Trans-X, MaxxBass, Vitamin, and S1. For a while I also used the L3-LL Multimaximizer a lot, but it was a bit heavy on the CPU and I either use the iZotope Maximizer or Fabfilter Pro-L2 now. I think it is still a very good bundle. Certainly worth the current price.

Horizon and Komplete Ultimate are 2 different beasts. It really depends on your needs. Horizon is a bundle of mainly effects plug-ins, while Komplete Ultimate is mainly a collection of music libraries, with also some plugins.

Getting Horizon will really lower your upgrade price to Mercury, and with all the sales from Waves, you might have a good sale price later on to get it.

Komplete Ultimate 12 is around the corner. You can jump on the deal for KU11, or wait a couple of months for the next upgrade sale after the release to get KU12 for the same price you would get KU11 now.

you're totally right... However KU11 IMO includes some effects gems (i'm not that interested in all those sample libraries, even though they might come handy) while Horizon is mainly made of bread and butter effects (the classic ones) plus a few nice ones.
Really though decision...

So I have komplete 11 select now. Should I grab the KU11 deal or wait for KU 12? I am not in urgent need for this but I am wondering how much the upgrade from Kselect 11 to KU 12 is gonna cost.....

I am not sure about version upgrades of Komplete Select. I think there was a Komplete Select 10 but it does not seem to qualify you for an upgrade to K11 or KU11. Only Komplete Select 11 does. So it might be advisable to go to K11 or KU11 now and do the KU12 upgrade later when it is on sale. But I am not sure what the best way is to be honest.

Much more at first, you'll probably have to wait for a year or more for the price of 12 to come down to a 50% deal. So doing the sale now should at least get you to the update price of 12 rather than the upgrade price. And updates are always quite a bit cheaper than upgrades.
