Bitwig is a commercial business, and as such their product will find a level in the market place.

Its largely a question of scale.

Whether to sell 1000 copies at $169, or 10,000 copies at $99 ?

By now, the new licensing model will have given them an idea of whether they have a niche market,or if there is a possibility of a wider audience. If sales have been good at the higher price, then they have every reason to stick. But if sales have not been up to expectations, they could reduce and go for volume sales. And as its a digital product, and once manufacturing is complete, why not go for scale ?

The next best option is to keep prices high, and have yearly sales as they are now doing. That way they get the early adopter market who can't wait, and the bargain hunters who can't resist the pull. 8)

I am not sure these is a high price for early adaptors in this case as you can buy in the sale before anything is even released....early adopter and bargain hunter!

In fact its late adaptors tat may get punished if they dont buy an upgrade in the sale and then the next release is so great they have to jump in at full price!

This is all true, but is that $116 price from JJRSHOP good for renewals... then I'll buy right now. :D

'group' coupon doesn't work now (it was working some hours ago, with price coming down to around $109 -- probably too low), but 'forum' coupon brings it down to $114.8.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

My understanding is that it does... but please don't take my word for it... check with Bitwig to confirm!

Or, we need a brave soul to buy it and try it out to see if it works. :D

Just PM´d "Uncle E" from JRR shop, who in turn asked Bitwig about that. According to them, the update can unfortunately not be used for a renewal... :(

I put in an email earlier today and just heard back from JRRshop too, and they said the opposite -- that it CAN be used for renewal. :?

I reached out to JRRshop again to clarify due to the confusion with their first answer, and they got back to me again and apologized -- they double checked and indeed Redukt was correct, you can't use this for renewals!

"Forum" works on JRRShop for new purchases. I have been waiting for a sale. It is time to try a new DAW.
