Here is another video and in this one I'm using the spectral crossover feature that is available in the multiband plugins. Using this you can bring out or reduce some of the low level details in your audio. There a lots of possibilities that are unexplored with this crossover, so feel free to experiment yourself.

How did i not know about this? Does Vojtech just add these things and not tell anyone?
Seriously, a feature like that needs to have more than just one line in a list of changes and bugfixes.

Actually Vojtech, there is one thing that's really confusing me, and i'm hoping it's a bug because that makes most sense to me:
When you switch to spectrum mode, the display changes from freq to db (silence on left and 0db on right)
However if i want to isolate the quiet sections, i actually need to create a band on the right side (close to 0db), rather than on the left (close to silence).
So what's going on here?

Are you trying to isolate quite sections meaning that the input audio is low in level at that time? The spectrum crossover does NOT do that! This could be easily done using the Level crossover and a modulator in Follower mode. Spectrum crossover splits the signal into individual sine waves and these are sent into individual bands. So the horizontal dB axis is NOT the level of the signal, but individual sines. If you feel like something is fishy, please just send me some settings (copy under A-H), but I just tested it and everything seems fine.

_al_ - I believe this feature is only 6 months to a year old, so I imagine most people haven’t really explored it yet. I wanted to make this video because I thought most people didn’t realize this was possible and I didn’t want people to go 5 years without knowing. Thanks for watching.

I strongly recommend you watch the crossover tutorial videos covering this. It explains how it works.

OK so i watched the spectrum and levels videos, and i appreciate the spectrum mode is a bit more complex, but unfortunately i'm still having the same problem in levels mode, so can someone please explain why this is happening:
I play a simple hi-hat noise, which is peaking at -11db, and route it through Mflanger in levels mode with 2 bands, split at -4db.
Now with a split at -4db, and the hi-hat peaking no higher than -11db, i would expect no sound to be passing though band 2 (-4db to 0db).
However, what i'm getting is almost full volume going to band 2, and almost no sound coming from band 1 (silence to -4db).
So, as this is a simple level crossover, how is this possible?
I have level set to 0db, and level slope set to 100%, but no combination of these 2 sliders makes the sound (peaking at -11db) more prominent in band 1

You probably haven't attached the level follower to the level parameter in the crossover settings window. I will post a video I made now for you. If the level parameter is set fairly high, it would explain this behaviour.

So are you saying that the levels crossover only actually work when you add a mod??
