The development of these plugs has likely long since been paid for while they were the house brand for pro tools, so they don't have to recover too many costs at this point, and they want the maximum number of people using their plugs, so that when/if they develop something new, people will be interested.
I am pretty meh on a few of their plugs, but not unhappy at all about owning Transfuser, strike and xpand for cheap

Dated? Puh-leeze. It's a poor workman who blames the tools...
I see the same people come out of the woodwork and say the same ignorant things about the AIR plugs from time to time here. It's definitely laughable. The AIR plugs are excellent IMO and not dated in the least. I don't get where the idea that they're dated even comes from to be honest.
