ST2 DEMO and Tracktion problems

I just wonder does anybody out there have problems with ST2 and Tracktion?
Sometimes it works but most of the time it freezes
the entire computer.
This always happens when I load new instruments in ST2.
BTW I tried ST2 in other hosts with the same result but it seems like this happens more frequently in Tracktion.
UPDATE ----------- UPDATE
For me the problem was solved: disable "Use Realtime Priority"! in the settings.

Thanks for the input.
A few more votes please so we can make come to a conclusion.
Meanwhile I tried a few more tricks like install and uninstall, I also tried to use ST2 in Chanier unfortunately no matter what I do the thing just freezes my entire computer sooner or later.
I have a pretty beefy machine and many other plugs including Amplitube and Tracks from IK.
They all work fine, it's just ST1 and ST2 that I am having problems with.

I share the problems, but not your successes!AndrewSimon wrote:I just wonder does anybody out there have problems with ST2 and Tracktion?

I installed ST2 demo/free but when I tried to open it up inside Tracktion and load a sound it froze up the whole system.
Four times.
I had to reboot each time. The fourth time I uninstalled ST and obliterated all trace of it from my system
Never again.
Try Ravity demo if you haven't already - its a genuine softrware rompler built along the lines of 80s/90s harware models. You may like it...

I have been having the same problem with amplitube 1.3. Sometimes, when selecting a preset (usually on the second or third instance of amplitube), the machine locks up, and often it is a reboot jobby.
It is my understanding that the IK code is not very good, becuase it was written for a mac and ported to the pc. Muppets.
I tried guitarrig recently; the 1.1 release is nice and stable on tracktion, all except for the fact that compares to amplitube it appears to lack testicles, which is a shame.

I haven't seen any crash with ST2 since I disabled ASIO direct mode in Tracktion. I generally recommend doing the same if you use any VST(i) whose programmers you do not trust blindly.
I think: if ASIO direct mode is enabled and any VST is slow on responding to requests, this might result in calls issued by the ASIO driver to return slowly as well. Some drivers don't take this gracefully. I believe that this is behind many of the reported crashes of Tracktion with specific VST(i)s.
