Been playing around a bit. Getting some pretty interesting results. I seem to never use audio plugins for their intended use. Mainly to seek out cool new aural musical sounds. But what is the intended purpose of this plugin mainly?

I have been demoing the Linux version for a couple of days and although I have no Idea what I am actually doing, I'm finding the plugin really great for sound design. Slap on some random automation to nearly any parameter and you get some fantastic other wordly soundscapes. I didn't really want to buy another plugin right now, but I'm very very tempted at the lower welcome price.

Has anyone came up with a convincing Boss BF2 flanger setting yet?
I've been playing with it, the freeze feature plus the really smooth pitch shifting makes this thing so sweet for ambient drones. Love it.

I don't have a BF-2 to compare to, but here's a "Jet Flange" preset I just whipped up and a very similar CE-2 inspired chorus. The chorus was going for an 80's Smiths vibe (shooting for a similar sound to me CE-2w pedal) and the only real difference between the two presets is the delay time (figuring the originals would've been based on very similar designs).dangayle wrote:Has anyone came up with a convincing Boss BF2 flanger setting yet?

If you come up with something better, post here.

Not necessarily. In this case I was using basically the default settings (dotted eighth note etc..) with slightly higher feedback at 80 BPM. I put it on a snare playing once a measure and tried cutting the feedback right before each snare hit late enough in order to allow the last repeat (an 1/8 before the next snare) but early enough to allow the feedback to recover before the next snare hit. I'm basically missing the last echo in order for the delay to switch back on in time. Hope I'm being clear....tasmaniandevil wrote:Are you maybe using very short delay times?NAD wrote:In any case, I'm noticing that when the panic button is released it takes a short while for the delay to open up again so... feature or bug? It would be nice if it recovered immediately even at the risk of clicking.
We had to smooth the Panic button to avoid clicks, so there is a very short fade when you press the button. But this might only be noticed if one is using delay times like 0.01s or so.
Maybe we can make the fade a bit shorter, but I can't promise anything.

if someone wants to check out, I did an audio demo going through some patches I made that shows more or less what you can get from this plug..
From rhythmic, phased, chorused delays and echo/slapback to pitched or weird to awesomely smooth/thick/warm modulation like chorus or flanger.
dry source is a Korg Minilogue synth seq with some filter and amp env attack and decay tweaks.

Had to read it a few times, and get some caffeine into my veins, but I think I understood.NAD wrote:In this case I was using basically the default settings (dotted eighth note etc..) with slightly higher feedback at 80 BPM. Hmm, we might try, but I am not sure we can make the fade short enough and at the same time prevent it from producing clicks.
For what you want to do, have you tried using the ducking section? It ducks the Regen setting.
You might have to experiment with the different modes and the threshold setting, but it might help in achieving your goal, without having to use the panic button.
