My submission consists of words that describe the “feel” of each delay type’s transient response, as it behaves with most material I’ve tested it on!

TYPE 1: RESO (for its resonant quality)
TYPE 2: SPARKLE (for its bright quality) (can also use PING if you wish all to be four letters!)
TYPE 3: FUZZ (for the buzzy Lyrebird sound at high input)
TYPE 4: SNAP (for the snappy / clicky transient quality)
TYPE 5: DUSK (for its dark quality)

If you want to use most of my submission but change a couple, that’s fine as well!

Going with an atmospheric theme here, trying to capture the character of the sounds while keeping it in the realm of plausible VHS-era color names:

1 - AURORA
2 - BOLT
3 - CUMULUS
4 - MIRAGE
5 - UMBRA

Still not set on 2 and 3 (originally wanted to go with MOONDOG and U.F.O., but those didn't really sound like colors to me).

1. Desher - Red - Flesh / blood and destruction
2. Kem - Black - Life and death
3. Irtiu - Blue - Fertility and water

5. Khenet - Yellow - The Gods
