MFreqShifter on drums

I am trying to use MFreqShifter to tune one snare drum with another using layering, but every second snare hit sounds different from the first one.. why is this happening? Am I not understanding the plugin correctly?

It isn't for tuning, frequencyshifting is by its very nature a disharmonic process. And it uses a freerunning oscillator that processes the incoming signal so yes drumhits will tend to sound somewhat different on each hit.
Someone else will need to chime in if more technical details is needed, I'd get much to verbose if going into any more detail.

...I do that sort of thing all the time...but without system specs/etc there's not much to go on...some details would help.../s~

Well I'm running a reaper on a mac pro mid 2012, just using it on a sample..
This isn't that big of a deal or shouldn't be, I can always just freeze flatten whatever hit fits and then copypasta, just wondered if it's normal.
Btw, If I set the oscillator to a custom shape that will only be at +1 position all the time, in theory that would give me a constant sound wouldnt it

have you tried using MTransformer as a plugin to create ghost layers? Works like a charm.
With frequency shift, it actually should sound the same if the incoming signal is constant. No?

Well, the shifter is based on some pretty complex filters, which are minimum phase, which means they sort of rotate, in a way evolve based on previous material, so it is quite possible that it will sound a bit different every time. Pitch shifting and others won't help you either, because they change the phases as well. I think the frequency shifting is a better choice though.
Why don't you simply use a sampling machine like MDrummer, where you can just edit the pitch? Seems much easier.
