Well, the Linux community is slowly reaching one out of a hundred downloads for us, mostly free stuff. Thing is, we can't afford to hire a full time developer for it. We rely on freelance work. As such, they won't leave beta status anytime soon. Especially not after we have refactored and refurbished preset handling (WIP), which completely broke our ability to compile Linux versions. We'll be meeting Abique (our freelance Linux developer) in the near future to discuss how we go about it.

Currently Abique is doing pretty much all of the work on a every-now-and-then base. If one day he can not do it anymore, we will try to find someone else.

That said, I don't think it makes sense to add more developers to the team at this point of time.

Linux support is and will always depend on contribution from the Linux community. We're happy to pay for work, but we're not going to hire a specialist on a full time base.

Most people tolerate commercial operating systems
to host their preferred DAW software. In my linux corner,
linux is the DAW, and apps like reaper, bitwig, mixbus etc
are integral in the signal path, but not necessarily the
beginning or the end of the path, wheras in a commercial
OS, the signal chain is typically boxed in by the DAW in use.

There is an interesting symmetry between the maturing
of the U-he linux plugin ports, and the nearly official
release of linux Reaper: the linux beta topic which was
locked some time ago, has been getting a lot of new views,
as people hit the search engines when reading good news.
Using U-he products in unrestrictive linux systems
is a great joy, and travelling from (audio) point A
to point B, has never been such fun, or so rewarding.
One can scratch the surface, and be dazzled,
dig deeper and become mystified, or lock the door
from the inside, and dive headlong into the overload zone

I couldn't care less about this whole commercial vs. open source thing. I just want an OS that doesn't restart on me when I leave it on overnight, making me lose all progress in music as well as documents, webpages, and anything else I had open, just so it can update to its newest spyware. That's how much I hate Windows 10, that I'd be willing to switch to Linux almost immediately once Bitwig/Reaper has a way to easily use Windows VSTs in Linux.
