Stumbled across this completely by accident yesterday, and it's proving quite handy for managing dozens of MP's. Maybe lots of other folks already know about it, but I didn't remember having come across it in the videos. (The actual parameters assigned are meaningless, and assigned only to allow saving of the preset)

Code: Select all

Look at the tabs in the basic (non edit) interface. Look at the group names in the individual MP's to see how it works.

Who's got some other tips or tricks like this to do interesting things with the organization or presentation of the interface?

Buried in this thread is an immensely useful tip regarding coordinating the enabled/disabled status of MPs - something with which I was struggling greatly at the time:

Vojtech's trick is revealed about half way down.

OK, thx. Will read through when I get a chance.

I just noticed something in a plug I'm working on. When multiple groups are arranged left to right , and contain different numbers of elements, their vertical heights will vary. Up until a minute a go, every time I looked at the preset interface, the middle (rebound) group was in a shorter box than the others, and vertically centered so the top and bottoms of the box didn't line up.

Suddenly, it is lining up as seen in the pic. I've changed so many things at this point, I have no idea what's causing that.

Anyone know what dictates whether it aligns vertically or not?

While I'm at it, if I had two shorter groups, is there any way to get them to stack in a single horizontal slot?

In the Multiparameter Editor / Appearance panel
ResizableY
Resizable Y switch lets you specify if the panel could be resized vertically. It is off by default to make sure everything has the minimum size it requires, but for aesthetic reasons you may want to make all groups on the same row the same size even if the controls inside them are not.
PS Click any edit parameter / field then press F1.

Also, to add an Info button to an Easy screen panel, click the {Edit information about the multiparameter] button and type away.

Ahhh... I had tried messing with that a while back, and don't remember it doing that... I probably neglected to pay attention to which parameters within the group had it assigned, whether some didn't, etc. Description seems straight forward enough. I've read most of the descriptions. Not sure why I skipped that one. I guess I saw that resize X was affecting the horizontal size of the individual controllers, and assumed Resize Y referred to them specifically rather than the group panel containing them.

Any other tricks like the # panel thing that might not be so easy to find?
