MCompressor side chain input not showing in cubase?

Hi all,

I am using MCompressor version 11.05 with cubase 7.5. Melda's change log says that a side chain Input was added in version 10.07 (I am not referring to the earlier filtering side chain).

My problem is that when I activate the side chain input, it does not show up in cubase's side chain input list.

My assumption is that side chaining should be possible, as with cubase's stock compressor,because the manual says "Side-chain input switch activates the secondary plugin input, which lets you process the main signal, but follow the side-chain level instead. This is useful for all sorts of creative effects such as pumping the whole mix by bass drum."

How can I use that secondary input?

It should work the same way that other VST's work in your host. With both of the DAW's I use, I turn on the MCompressor sidechain and it shows up in the list of destinations I can route audio to. Some hosts used to make you open a menu in their plug-in UI and enable the input, but I haven't seen that in a while.

Cubase, being a Steinberg product, may be fussy about you using the newer technology VST3 version of the plug-in, so my only suggestion is to make sure that you are using the VST3 version and not the VST2 version if you are trying to sidechain with it.

Good luck, MCompressor is my favorite compressor to sidechain with due to its mix of capability and simplicity. All the features I need and none that I don't, and my favorite compressor meter of all of them.

You need to use VST3 for sidechaining in Cubase. This is true for literallyu all plugins.
