It can get pretty wild out there and one can browse from an horror FX named "Strawberry Candy" to a smooth pad in a click of the mouse.
For MPowerSynth or any other upcoming instrument, it would be nice to have some order with the Online Exchange. At least to have a name convention that states the sound type at the beginning of the patch name. If the patch name parsing does not show an approved category in the first letters, with the proper case, rejected !
Once established, actual sub folders would be a snap.

I thought about that many times, but I just don't see a way to make it "self-sustainable"... It would need our interaction and considering there's literally zero time for everything, well,...

Well, rules would prevent interactive maintenance. Rules enforced by
1) documentation
and
2) machine parsing
A fixed set of broad categories, eg. BAS PAD KEY LED FX DRM ARP SEQ.
Patch name must start with one of these keywords. If not, bzzzzzz. reject !

Hehe sounds simple? The reality isn't as usual. First, documentation - my guess is that about 10% people actually read that. And expecting categories is like a unicorn . Then the fact, that the BAS, LED... categories look absolutely horrific to me, since I'm not exactly a fan of any of the vintage stuff, where the limited displays needed this.
Plus that's one specific plugin, I would need all that to work for all plugins... Originally the directories were actually sent with the plugin and downloaded with the exchange, and you wouldn't believe what a mess it was... Picture a folder called My presets and a preset Default in it, and it might have been good...
