Non-destructive reverse? Output clipping?

Hello!

A couple of questions, again.

Is there any way of reversing audio files non-destructively?

And here's another one:

Coming from Sonar i always used to first make the kick very loud
(about -1db/-2db). And then adjust the bassline as loud as the kick.
If i do this in Tracktion the sound starts clipping (Inspector VST) the more sounds i add. This is quite logical but i never remember experiencing this clipping in Sonar. Does the Tracktion sound engine work in a different way?

How do you guys adjust the levels (dance music) to avoid clipping?

Thanks! :)

in your case, the clipping could be avoided by simply turning down the master volume, as the output is the only point at which audio can actually 'clip' in T's engine (the rest is 32bit float, which allows for a shiteload of headroom)

inspector won't reflect these changes as it's prefader, but you can't put a vol/pan filter before inspector if you need.

This should've happened the same in sonar, unless it clips audio to Odb at the output of each plugin, which means it was happening before the audio got to inspector. I don't know sonar, or which version you're using, so I can't say for sure, but I'm somebody else probably can.

There is no non-destructive reverse I know of, though making a copy is usually easy enough...

I don't actually hear it clip, inspector tells me it does

What i hear is an effect similar to heavy compression...

Turning the master level down wont help. Only turning down the individual channels does.

The non-destructive reverse must surely be something a lot of people would like to see, it should be quite easy to implement?!

Thanks!
