I'm very likely going to release a preliminary version of Hive at some point, for beta testing and to prepare sound designers for what's to come. I'm trying to wrap up scripting before a short vacation, not sure how far I get.

I don't understand what you want to do. Just modulate the volume of the patch.Zemborato wrote:When it comes to new paradigms for arps & seqs, there's a feature I've long wanted, but never found. Or if it's out there, I'm too dense to recognize it, I guess.Urs wrote:

Often when using an arp or sequencer, I also want to use that voice alone, which usually means I have to manually, and abruptly, turn the arp off/on, or run two different instances of the patch. It would be very cool if the volume of the arp or sequence could be modulatable so that it can be faded in and out as desired, or automated. Even cooler if an envelope could be put on it.

The point is to be able to fade the sequence or arpeggio element in and out to make it more or less prominent in the overall sound while leaving the actual patch voice intact. And if this was modulatable by envelope, you could use it as a way to create a kind of pitched delay effect.pdxindy wrote:I don't understand what you want to do. Bought Zebra/ZebraHZ today in large part (aside fr. reviews, sound samples, strength of other u-he synths) b/c it'll be the first PKD name related u-he plugin I'd own.One of my favorite authors and had this weird artistic symbolic ocd where felt I must have it. It's curious, I've lurked a ton of dif. u-he threads online during my research and not once has anyone mentioned the PKD connection in any of them. I recommend his 'Exegesis'; interesting ideas, theories, philosophy, life experiences that give some great context and insight into his novels. Such a unique writer.
In any case please excuse the digression; loving the Zebras so far, version 3.0 aught to be good as 2.8 will be for my current work/play I'm sure. Look forward to updated HZ version as well.
A pleasant evening to you all.

I think he's referring to Philip K. Dick. Or maybe Polycistic Kidney Disease... Not sure of the relevance of either to Zebra though.equinoxide wrote:nusound mind wrote:Bought Zebra/ZebraHZ today in large part (aside fr. reviews, sound samples, strength of other u-he synths) b/c it'll be the first PKD name related u-he plugin I'd own.One of my favorite authors and had this weird artistic symbolic ocd where felt I must have it. Yes, he's referencing Philip K. Dick. Don't people read anymore?
Uhbik and Tyrell are obviously PKD references, but I don't know if Zebra is. It would be interesting to know. I think I also remember a few PKD references in preset names and such.

Heehee I never knew...so was Zebra inspired by the "transcendentally rational mind" of a Dick? I hope Urs doesn't take too much speed lest he lose his mind as well.

Maybe because he wrote the base for the 2 Bladerunner movies. And the first movie has some synth sounds in it people sometimes call iconic nowadays. Zebra can sound like that and maybe that could be the reference?Delta Sign wrote:Yes, he's referencing Philip K. Dick. Don't people read anymore?

Dick used the word Zebra in his novel 'Valis' (and his Exegesis). He used it interchangeably with the term Valis (his own term, an acronym for 'Vast Active Living Intelligence System').
