Not sure what this discussion is about anyway. Omnisphere is such an established and popular product, and arguing about the need of a sampler/rompler, or sound libraries is pretty much pointless anyway. If you need it, you need it. Not sure if you really need it for the demands the OP has though. Nexus seems like a much more logical choice. Especially considering what a load of soundsets are available for it, for the respective genre the OP asked for.

Do this with One Ping Only and FX. Duplicate the tracks exactly.

Your trolling on Omnisphere is getting tiresome.
Interesting to hear.
I know that you‘re in a deep emotional relationship with this Omnisphere stuff and I do not want to hurt your feelings but for me it‘s rather oldfashioned sound which can be done by this synth.
That was exciting 10-20 years ago but at least for me no longer. And to pay 500 bucks for this naughty years cliche sound is simply not worth it even if it would cost only a tenth.
But hey, some people still love German march music. It‘s their right to love it and it‘s okay. Same applies to this Omnisphere sounds.
And this:
You clearly know zero about Omnisphere, and so can't even make rudimentary attempts at arguments other than about expense, so you default to the fanboi/emotional nature of supporters by way of trying to undermine any real arguments that are being made. I've discovered over the years, that I really like synthesis better than samples. I own Kontakt and at this point I don't even have it installed. I would not pay even $200 for Omnisphere because I have zero interest in the massive sample library. And take away the sample library and the synth itself is not worth $200 to me. For example, for $200 I would rather have Cypher 2 than Omnisphere. I would also much rather have Bazille, RePro, or Phonem as synths and each of them costs significantly less than $200.martinjuenke wrote:A few things are not enough to justify that price tag...el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Forgetting that they are not comparable, so what?martinjuenke wrote:a) Omnisphere cost 2.5 times of LogicPro including Alchemy...
It's true on one hand, and yet Omnisphere excels in a few thingsmartinjuenke wrote:b) If you try to cover all, you won‘t excel in anything...
And comparability lies in the eye of the beholder...
So for my interests, Omnisphere is way overpriced

Is that an attempt at humor? What, you think I don't know what an LFO is and how to use it?ghettosynth wrote:Guys, if you want me to jump in here you're going to have to give me something to work with. Oh, and wags, study LFOs, for realz!
If you want to insult me could you at least choose something a little more believable?

C‘mon! el-bo (formerly ebow) is currently eating me as dinner hors d‘oevre! I need help to rescue this overwhelming tide of broadest knowledge and sophisticated KVR statesmenship... May I recommend some remarks on the weak filters of this ominous Omnisphere?ghettosynth wrote:Guys, if you want me to jump in here you're going to have to give me something to work with. Use two wags, and no, it's not an insult, it's a bit of fair criticism dressed up in a bit of humor.wagtunes wrote:Is that an attempt at humor? Well if you're going by a small sample size of whatever it is you've listened to and are making an assumption that it's representative of my LFO skills, don't you think that's a little bit presumptive?ghettosynth wrote:Use two wags, and no, it's not an insult, it's a bit of fair criticism dressed up in a bit of humor.wagtunes wrote:Is that an attempt at humor? Dude, you post stuff with your patches all of the time and that was supposed to a "demo." Stop being so sensitive, I'm giving you solid feedback here and you should take it to heart. I don't think that Omnisphere is the pad monster that others do, but, it does have plenty of easy to use modulation options and I think that you can do better.wagtunes wrote:Well if you're going by a small sample size of whatever it is you've listened to and are making an assumption that it's representative of my LFO skills, don't you think that's a little bit presumptive?ghettosynth wrote:Use two wags, and no, it's not an insult, it's a bit of fair criticism dressed up in a bit of humor.wagtunes wrote:Is that an attempt at humor? The "66 sound banks" signature may be some indicator of this. How is "learn LFOs" relevant criticism? Don't think Wags response was very sensitive at all.wagtunes wrote:Well if you're going by a small sample size of whatever it is you've listened to and are making an assumption that it's representative of my LFO skills, don't you think that's a little bit presumptive?
Anyway. Regardless of the rampantly justified opinions in any of these threads, Omnisphere is still a solid VST. Cost and value is going to come down to how useful it is to you. My little collection of instruments would cost more than Omnisphere at MSRP, and it's very possible that I would be able to fill all the same needs with Omnisphere, while keeping all my sounds mostly in one plugin and spending a bit less. I'd rather be making music than justifying what I use, all it is it what I've found to work for me. I find it very unlikely that it's possible to replicate anything you can do in Omnisphere with OnePingOnly, but hey, it's not as if I have any reason to try and stop you from doing what you want to do with the plugins you like.

If Omni can replace all of your synths then you don't have much of a collection in terms of interest and capability. Which explains why you don't understand how my comment is relevant.zenophilix wrote:The "66 sound banks" signature may be some indicator of this. How is "learn LFOs" relevant criticism? I don't have a problem with Omnisphere 2, though I understand this thread is about how appropriate it is for a specific genre of music. Not every synth is the same, some are sample based, some granular, fm, wavetable, basic saw and square, etc, and they all compliment each other and are useful at different times. For what it is Omnisphere 2 is a great plugin, expensive maybe, but it does come with a lot of content and for a lot of people who make music that's important to them. I can understand why a sound designer might not be that excited about it.

This is what I get for attempting to have a civil conversation on an Omnisphere thread.ghettosynth wrote:If Omni can replace all of your synths then you don't have much of a collection in terms of interest and capability. Omni can't replace every synth out there. Omni excels at one thing, mostly because of a huge sample library and some really awesome onboard FX. The synth engine is decent but not excellent. There are things Omni can't do well and for those things I use specialized synths.ghettosynth wrote:If Omni can replace all of your synths then you don't have much of a collection in terms of interest and capability. But for people to say that Omni is a total piece of crap and can be replaced by One Ping Only and a reverb, that's the kind of crap that burns me up because it's pure trolling.
And just to make the record straight. Omni cost me nothing. I bought it with money I earned selling old junk hardware that I was never going to use again. Otherwise, I wouldn't own it. No synth, IMO, is worth $500 and I would never spend $500 on any synth unless it could also cook my breakfast and drive me to the store.
The problem with these Omni threads is you get both ends of the spectrum (those who praise it like it's God and those who think One Ping Only is just as good) and the truth is somewhere in the middle. But there is so much elitism and snobbery in this forum that trying to have an intelligent conversation about any synth is downright close to impossible.
If you'll notice, I am involved in very few synth discussions anymore because of this long running problem here. I've simple lost interest and prefer to spend my time instead just making music.
Some of the guys here should try that sometime.
