For those interested, Mattias posted in the Propellerhead blog yesterday that Reason 10.2 will be released the 26th of September, with a few interesting new features. Public beta testing is currently open.

Seems there is no VST optimization coming in this update, but this is promised later this year (according to the blog post).

In other news, every DAW out there gets incremental patches with far more significant changes every single month.
Just one example of many:

Imagine how crowded this forum would be if we created a post for every patch in every DAW, should we be doing this?

Oh, this guy is back again...
Are you continuously searching for "Reason" in this forum just pay these threads a visit? I feel sorry for you, I really do.
Reason is not updated as often as Reaper, so I don't understand what your problem is about a post about an update. In case you haven't noticed, last post about Reason in this section (Hosts & Applications...) was July the 18th, and it happens to be yours.
You are welcome to leave this thread again, anytime.

These features are cool and useful, especially the multilane edit (which is something I use since forever in Cubase) and the "adjust multiple fader" (can we call it "link channels"?). I rarely use Reason, but these features are really welcome. Thanks for the heads up.

LOL. Good one. Do you know how many "hey, we changed 2 lines of code" things are listed in the Reaper changelogs? There are far LESS significant changes in Reaper than in any other DAW. It's just that no other DAW developer writes all those tiny little changes in his changelog.Psuper wrote:In other news, every DAW out there gets incremental patches with far more significant changes every single month.

I for one am really happy to see the direction Reason is going. In spite of the noise from the odd hater, from my perspective at least, the Props DO listen to their users and have been making good progress as a fully fledged DAW in recent times. I understand that it is not the perfect tool for everyone (what is?) but as someone who basically gave up on Reason some years ago, the latest version has at least got my interest in the product sparked again and it actually gets opened and used now.

Yes, this is true for me also. And it's quite the paradox, but when VST support finally came to Reason, that made me buy even more Rack Extensions because I could more clearly see the benefits of the RE format for my particular workflow (need to sync the exact same project on my laptop and desktop studio computer through the cloud). Going to grab some more RE's now when it's "End of summer sale"...jacqueslacouth wrote:I for one am really happy to see the direction Reason is going. umm...this thread is not about reaper, please do not derail. Reporting patch releases is a part of this forum and always has been.Psuper wrote:In other news, every DAW out there gets incremental patches with far more significant changes every single month.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Their putting those new features over VST optimizations????

No, the vst optimizations require a huge overhaul of the application so they're releasing these relatively minor updates separately rather than waiting for the optimizations to be ready and releasing everything then.beatmangler443 wrote:Their putting those new features over VST optimizations????

Nice improvements, but I don't see midi files review in the browser!!
I have been waiting for ages for this. It's an essential part of laying the drums for me as I'm not a drummer.
Actually, this why I still use Cubase and Reaper more!

Do any of the DAWs available out there have 75% of the features above? Why does Reason have to get at least 75% of the above when no other DAW does? Yeah, I know, some of the requested features above would be unique to Reason, but I think you get my point.
Reason already has a pretty unique features set as of today, and would "shine" with even 1/5 of the above. Myself I would be happy enough with just a few more features.
4k/resizable gui
Track folders/grouping
Better CPU handling/Multi-core
VST optimization
More midi features
More automation features/curves
Showing keys pressed in the piano bar
New updated Combinator
I don't understand why some people need Reason to be the most feature rich DAW, the same pressure does not seem to apply to other DAWs. To me Reason is already unique, and I don't need it to have ALL features, because no other DAW has.
